looking at the first 2 games he played this season, Paul scored 25 and 23 points in two lopsided wins. His most recent game against St. Joe’s Montvale Paul had 23 points 9 rebounds 8 assists 4 steals 2 blocks and made 2 3 pointers.

Saw him against an overmatched Hillsborough team. Made everything look very easy. I want to see him against a good team.

Very controlled.

I was at the game last night vs. St. Joseph's of Montvale. Paul could have scored over 40 if he wanted. He probably is the most unselfish player I have ever seen. I think he was 1-2 on three's. He was 7-8 on free throws. He penetrates so well and dishes to an open man. He loves his teammates and wants all of them to do well. I think I have now seen him play 9 times and each time he has impressed me. I want him to do well for RU. forget about Quinerly I believe Paul is so psyched about coming to RU and wants to play for his State University. He is a true point guard but can also play small forward or two guard. I just hope our players are ready next year to catch his passes. They are very good hitting a guy in the right spot.

I like Paul, but if its possible to get JQ you cannot deny him, he's a real 5 star, he would be an enormous pickup especially since he's from NJ

we havent had a guy who really wanted to play for the state U since Geoff Billet. Mulcahy seems like a kid that we have been missing at this school for a long time now

He is an absolutely great passer. Quinerly is the better shooter. Mulcahy is better at EVERYTHING else.

Having a PG with vision, handle, the ability to get into the lane and the desire to make set up his teammates with his passing is a skill set we want.

A lot to like about his game and his height at the PG position. Looking forward to having a playmaker like that here.

Some of the HS teams on the schedule would have a tough time staying on the court at your local YMCA. I am not exaggerating.

Among other superlatives, the kid has a great cross-over dribble, especially for his size.

Seriously? Are you only talking about white guys? Myles Mack didn’t want to play here? Or others over the many years since Billet played?

you are right Mack was another guy big on repping Jersey...however really thats about it. You can say Rosario but when you bolt so quickly sorry he doesnt count.

I haven't seen Jacob Young outside of some highlights at Texas but it really looks like Mulcahy will be the best dribbler and passer the day he steps on campus.

We need to combine that with a sharpshooter, however my sense is that Pikiell doesn't want to take the defensive hit to add a guy like Rowsey last year on Marquette or Ballock on Creighton... pure 3-point shooters who are stiff defensively.

To those who really know the scene well, of the kids coming out of hs, is Mulcahy THE Number 1kid we would want?

There are better players in the state but Khalil Whitney (Kentucky), Scottie Lewis (Florida), and Bryan Antoine (Villanova) were always out of our range. Mulcahy is rated similarly to Zach Freemantle (Xavier), Khalif Battle (Butler), and Al-Amir Dawes (Clemson). Mulcahy is the only PG of those four and that's our biggest need.

Saw Jacob Young at the open practice. He is fast. And he is quick. He is really fast and quick.

Didn’t see enough to assess his handle, passing or D. But he seemed to have a healthy intensity, so I would expect that he can play good D.

I still believe Mulcahy is a multi position player that can play PG. I see him being able to play PG and some on the wing to run pick and roll, allowing him to drive and kick out or draw defenders. His ability to score or pass in both half court and transition will make others better.

There's going to be the universal criticism of him not being an immediate 24 foot bomber from 3 or his ability to be a shut down defender.

I also think Geo and McConnell and Young playing guard will allow Mulcahy plenty of time to get acclimated to big time college basketball. The best aspect of what's mentioned in this thread with Alvarado & McConnell (not necessarily Strickland) and Mulcahy is the ability to play with pace and not feel as if they're being sped up.

Mulcahy can play fast, slower and in between. The faster the pace, the more adept he is at finding players. I don't see any downside to him being added to this roster.

I don't know what he sees during the offseason. I get really concerned that there is an enormous step up in competition from playing Skylands conference basketball and B1G.

This is tongue-in-cheek (because I love Mulcahy's overall game), but the "low-release-point"-tards are going to be in full throat over Mulcahy's jump shot.

Greene Rice is there something you have against Mulcahy? You seem to downplay everything he does. That kid will be all conference big ten player. Guaranteed. I know the real reason you don't like him but that's a problem you have to figure out.

ZERO at all. He is a very important to the program. I just don't see him Day 1 as the savior point guard that some on the message board project.

He is a glue guy that all programs need. He certainly has a lot in his game that he needs to improve. I know he has made great strides in becoming stronger physically and I have full confidence he will ultimately reach his full potential.

Hes gonna be a great distributor and qb of the offense. He makes our team better next year and will probably play about 20-22 a night. From what ive seen of him, his outside shot isnt there just yet and who knows if it’ll ever be, hes an average defender against quicker guards but a high iq play who knows how to play basketball and where to be much like RHJ

he doesnt have to be a savior, he just needs to be a solid point guard as a freshmen

Paul's team is rated # 3 in the state for a reason. They certainly do not just play Skylands teams. Check their schedule they play a lot of big time teams. Last year Paul was unstoppable against Roselle Catholic. He almost defeated RC by himself' He also was selected as the MVP of the Hoop Group Classic in August over both Ranney players and many other big time players. I have seen him 9 times and every time I have been impressed. I have no idea why Greene has doubts about him.

Ron Harper and Mulcahy both have the push like shot release that they have grown up with. I don't see the shot as not fixable, the keys to his game isn't jump shot reliant. Baker also had a funky looking shot release in HS that was changed as he got stronger and fixed.
