As I predicted Lex, for all their jabbing literally minimal Rider fans. Honestly, if you can’t bring more than 50 people to drive 30 minutes, don’t yap about needing this for some mythical Jersey rivalry.

When we go down there I want to take that place over.

Gotta agree Jersey...just over 4,700 in attendance and probably 4650 were RU fans. I think next's years match will be the end of the series. Rider's team next season will be about the same as this year, match will not really be that competitive again. I would rather RU schedule an ACC team, home and home.

This entire charade is a joke. I mean no disrespect to Rider but hard to build a rivalry with no traveling fans or serious chance of winning. Princeton has AA’s and had a nice home environment at Jadwin. That is your NJ rivalry.

Princeton is the true test for Rutgers. It kind of stinks we have such a good relationship with them because a little animosity makes the match a little more fun, right? Or is that just me?

Agree with Lex. They got their 5 minutes. Now let’s end this nonsense and move forward with some other matchups. There is no upside for RU in this anyway. RU vs Princeton is what I want to see. Perhaps get Lehigh back every few years.

Next season's match vs Rider will be in their little, band box size High School looking gym. That will be interesting. I watched their match vs U Penn from that gym, and with just a hundred or so fans, it was loud as heck. It will be mostly RU fans there next season, and the noise will be probably deafening.
Actually, it could be fun to attend, but my tinittus will be exacerbated greatly, lol.

Exactly...Rider last beat us in what...Goodale's 2nd season as HC? That was a decade ago. Like I said...Rider wrestling is the Temple football of the sport. The few fans they have are complete dicks but they pretty much are completely ignored. RU will take over their arena or force them to move it to Cure Center in Trenton, we will kick their asses again and then the series will be over.

Exactly...Rider last beat us in what...Goodale's 2nd season as HC? That was a decade ago. Like I said...Rider wrestling is the Temple football of the sport. The few fans they have are complete dicks but they pretty much are completely ignored. RU will take over their arena or force them to move it to Cure Center in Trenton, we will kick their asses again and then the series will be over.

Listen... they are a solid middle tier program and have pulled out some nice AA's so no hate here. Walsh and Clagon were really solid wrestlers and I would have loved to have had them. There was a time in the Sacci era that they had a leg up. But again, long time ago and once RU made the proper investment in this program that time has come and gone. In the meantime, the Rider staff started beating their chests like they "mattered" in NJ and that somehow Goodale and RU were giving the NJ fan base a disservice by not scheduling them... even hinting that we were "scared".

They pushed for this match and forced our end to make a return trip to their little closet. As Goodale said "let's see the crowd". Well I saw it and NOBODY from Rider showed up. So bye bye. As I said, there is no upside for RU in continuing this. At least when we travel to Princeton, jadwin is a nice venue and they have a solid turnout.

I never experienced such an unprofessional bunch of whiner assistant coaches, who also took the time to heckle fans rooting for their home team instead of coaching during a live match! I’d expect that from an opposing FAN base in a hostile environment but NOT from assistant coaches. The head coach was ok but did not control his assistants at all. Rider brings nothing to the table except mouthy trash talk they can’t back up! Junk yard dogs. No, thank you. Next.

Ha. Belittling. How about you get your facts straight before coming on our boards and commenting. I am talking about the Rider Coaching Assistants, who acted completely unprofessional. I hope PSU gets to wrestle against them. I’d like to share the joy with your tolerant fan base.

Rutgers wrestlers and their fans were definitely living 'rent free' in their assistant's head. Really sad. It was the big ogre assistant. I vividly remember during Gravina's match when he started saying TWOOOOO TWOOOOOO TWOOOOOOOOOO to the fans on the sideline. What a chump.

Got much worse than that...Rider assistant yelled to his wrestler, who was on the mat already “oh, Gravina is a dirty wrestler, too”. Wtf?

Like I said, I’ve never experienced that level of unprofessionalism from assistant coaches. They were very young, immature trash talkers. It was insane. Even though we were winning, they wouldn’t stop. Willie Scott match shut them up though! Thank goodness. I could go on and on with the crap they were spewing.

Probably to just give the ok to give Rider the 1 point for Coach Goody going on the mat to celebrate Willie Scott’s come-from-behind-win! Rider was screaming to the refs for the penalty despite the fact that Rider had A LOT of warnings themselves all match long for doing the same thing Goody did once in the heat of excitement.

Rider had some lineups in the past 5/6 years that would have given RU a run for their money. Don't sleep on their ability to put a solid lineup out there in the next few years. They have some work to do, for sure, but they do good things with what they have.

We have Princeton for an in state rivalry and don't need Rider. I've been saying it for years. Rider has no class. If the head coach is going to allow his assistants to continue to spew crap on social media and in person, and heckle and annoy the crap out of our fans, then there's no point wrestling them. I get that they want to create a rivalry, but I wouldn't give them the time of day. Sure, it's nice to pound them, but I'd rather wrestle an ACC team like UVA, UNC, Duke or Pitt. UPenn would be fine too. If you want even better, then Cornell, Lehigh, NCST, VT or Mizzou.
