Not to be Debbie Downer..But.. I dont like this statement .Take it FWIW..
Need him to sign in three days..

Washington also mentioned that he is looking to sign on signing day in February and, as of now, is not scheduled to sign during the early period

“That is flexible though,” he said. "Right now, I am firm to Rutgers. I don’t have any other visits planned.”

Because his recruiting is atrocious and he is currently pursuing other academic risks that the mods on the premium board have been open about.
If that’s the case, I’m not sure why he’s bothering. We need guys on the field now. I remember towards the end of Shea, he was under a mandate to only take qualifiers. That’s why we had to beat out Stony Brook for recruits.

If he doesn't sign early then he is, IMHO, a decommit. Not signing says he is not committed to us but will play here if nothing better arises. It is that place holder safety school thing again. If he is a real commit he will sign, if he doesn't then he isn't.

Possibly.....but hopefully not.
Nebraska pulling his offer after they got their primary WR target is not a good sign however.

Don’t think that this kid was the only one who lost his offer because of the commit. There were probably 10+ kids that lost them because of it.

I do think Nebraska slow played him and a couple others until seeing if they got the kid they did but it wasn’t that Washington isn’t a good player.

Better news.
If he sticks he could be a good one. We need WR talent immediately.

December is the main signing day now, not february. If you are " verbally committed " but you arent signing in December, you are not committed, period. You are clearly just using the school as a safety.....

About 85% of committed players throughout the country signed in December last year. Of the players that were "committed" but didnt sign, about half switched schools from their original commitment.

I hope this one sticks, but man am I sick of RU being treated like the "ugly chick"

Well said.

But is it possible RU is asking him to wait until February. King has made it clear he will not sign anywhere in Feb. how many WR are we taking. Nobody graduated or has transferred from the WR room.

unless you are OSU,Michigan,PSU,Bama..you dont ask a three star to wait when you have the #66 ranked class,so someone else can still recruit him for two more months. whaaa..

I hope not, for a couple of reasons. First, it is the same message in reverse. The school is telling him they can do better so they don't want him taking up a spot. That invites him to keep looking elsewhere. Second, we are not in a position talent wise to say no to someone who the coaches obviously think, based on the fact they offered him, can play here.

Great news if signing in December. Otherwise this is not a commitment in my book.

Good genes. Brother was a 4-star with offers from Bama and Clemson. Starting safety for Florida. Signed as an UDFA with the Raiders.

So, natural to worry that he’s waiting to sign because he’s hoping for a UF offer before February. Kind of risk that Ash needs to take.

Then why commit to anyone? He should keep his recruitment open if he is waiting for another offer. If he commits here then sign here when the signing day arrives. Being used as a place holder safety school only gets us guys no one else wants.

You want to take a chance that he slips through to RU or take a Taj Jones who committed to UMass today? Nothing against Jones, but Ash needs to get playmakers any way he can.

Todd Hunt had best line on this kids verbal..
"But, like any other Florida prospect, Rutgers will have to stay on top of him to get him across the finish line -- signing day."
