Maddeningly bad play down the stretch

It’s really hard for 2 guys to carry a team for 40 minutes that are stars.

Why many of of us thought we would be better but also a loss away

the game was lost the last few minutes of the first half and first 5 minutes of 2nd half. Thats where RU blinked. RU actually fought back to cut it to two possession. I would hardly call that maddeningly bad...do you realize Wisky is #12 for a reason

its no surprise we are not ready, we really shouldnt be ready. Pike has this team ahead of schedule

BTN network very complimentary - suggest Michigan State then Wisconsin was killer start to BIG schedule - got size, better players, good defense———enjoy the build——-it’s not done yet!!!

The problem is the same for decades namely, not enough scoring threats on the court. The team has great difficulty even scoring 60 points against league conference opponents and that isn't enough points to be successful.

Maybe right at this moment. But you can see the potential of some of these younger guys who will be able to put the ball in the basket

This is a much stronger offensive team, imo, than last year and will only improve as these kids grow each year

I'm not buying that Wisconsin has better players other than Happ. That guy is a pain in the ***

Wisconsin and MSU are elite defensive teams. Wait until we play the rest of the schedule.

That's true. But the fact that we aren't as bad as we have been the last 30 years it doesn't make it less frustrating when we're in a tight game and taking another fade away jumper early in the shot clock. There are better shots than that.

This is stages. No longer happy with keeping any game close. I go into most games now believing we can win. Now it will just take experience and these guys playing together for a few years and we will win a game like tonight.

The emergence of Shaq Carter and getting McConnell some nice playing time will bode well for our season. I think we will blow the doors off a few big 10 teams this season.

Trice also has the luxury of playing with Happ and getting wide open looks

i thought i was watching Sanders and Freeman all over again. Bad job not running the offense and getting the ball inside more.

Having said all that fantastic 1st 15 minutes AND Shaq Carter with a great game.

Overall I am pleased, we played much better than I expected

Geo can't be 3-11 on two pointers. I think that's 3-3 layups and 0-8 jumpers. He needs to eliminate that from his arsenal.

These guys are working so hard. We only lost by 5 points on the road against the # 12 team in the nation that hardly ever loses at home. Some guys are expecting miracles immediately. As others have said this is a process and let's enjoy the build. I love this team

They do seem to take too many bad/forced shots. I've never seen so many air ball threes as I have in the last two games. Need to improve our foul shooting also. That said, I've enjoyed watching them and look forward to the improvement that experience should bring. Our record at the end of the season may not show it, but RU Basketball is back thanks to Coach.

Geo was lousy tonight offensively and defensively. Eugene tried to force too much and made some bone headed plays. His walk after we got the stop, his give away to start the second half , his flagrant foul instead of a common foul there. Happy missed both shots , we would have the ball down 5 with 2 minutes left . Our two leaders have to play well for us to win. This team will be learning all year how to win. Their inexperience is holding them back.

So Kcg88, you think Wisconsin will be a top 10 team or they deserve their #12 ranking now ? Do you think we were more or less athletic than they were? Do you think they had better talent, except for Happ? Do you think Trice is better than Geo, or just shot better than Geo tonight? Were Wisconsin’s role players anything to write home about? Just wondering considering our pregame chat !

Geo showed his youth tonight. Can’t take crappy shots like that early in the shot clock down the stretch of a winnable game.

people forget Geo is still a soph. He and Eugene at times try to carry the team....by the end of the season and next year they will be able to trust their teammates to be able to step up and knock down shots

Wisconsin will be ranked in the top 10 if they win at Marquette...they have beaten 4 solid programs and two decent teams in RU and Iowa and just a 7 pt loss to UVA. Yes they are very good and not sure why i keep reading on this board that they are not. Its not them individually that makes them scary. Its them as a team. Gard does an excellent job with their system. They play tough defense. Yes they are the better team than RU..probably would beat RU 7 of 10 times.

@Miami, MSU, @Wisconsin in succession. A week ago, I would have signed up for one win out of these three..especially since we did not embarrass ourselves.

I will say this:

Geo took an AWFUL shot down 5 and itt was the start of a 4-point swing and maybe 7-point run(?) after we hit back-to-back 3’s. There...yeah...he needs to think, not rush, and play smarter. He’ll learn from it I’m 100% sure!

They are a good team but not a Top 10 team, or a team that puts the fear of God in you like Duke. If Happ is neutralized a little bit, they will never win a game against the top 10. We were down 60-55 and Coach should have had Shaquille foul Happ with 10 on the shot clock. Once he got it at the foul line , you knew he was going by Doorson. Thought there were a couple of opportunities to foul Happ when we were within 5-6 and surprised Coach didn’t do it. Would have been interesting down three with the ball at the 3.5 and 2.5 minute mark. Eugene then commits the stupid foul instead of just reaching for a common foul.

I agree....bonehead move by Eugene who gets frustrated...I mean just foul him, he missed the shots anyhow

agree that Shaq should have fouled Happ on that one play

could Pike have done things differently..maybe...RU was chipping away at that lead and got it to 5. Its a tough call. In the end RU wasnt going to win this game. guys like Happ take over in crunchtime
