I, for one, sure hope so. The only thing the kid has done well is getting up after taking a hit.

Isn't it a little late to be asking if the Sitkowski experiment should be shelved? After all, we've gone with it the whole season. He's not the only problem on offense, heavens knows, but he's not helping and he's certainly making things worse. I confess I thought it was Ok to spend this year trying to develop Sitkowski -- we weren't going to win no matter what we did, I thought -- but Sitkowski has certainly not shown much to date.
The two TD drives (including the dropped pass sadly by Gio) that Gio led were the best the Rutgers offense has looked all season. Gio had 3 runs for first downs and our biggest run of the game. It’s clear he is the better option and probably could have toppled us over some other teams who we were in games with until late because our D couldn’t get off the field with Sit’s immobility combined with our OL who don’t block.
Just about everything from this season should be burned to the ground.
One thing for sure: we can't keep changing philosophies every year. If we switch to spread, we have to be prepared to stay with it for several years come what may.
My thoughts exactly. I feel like Sitkowski has regressed over the season with no sign that he has the decision making skills to play at this level. That INT today on the screen play was just the latest example .
Give Gio the final game against MSU. If we win or keep it close, then Ash made a big mistake.
It's blatantly obvious Ash made a huge mistake. Do you honestly think Gio would've threw 4 touchdowns and 18 interceptions? Hell no. Just Gio being on the field scrambling for first downs is better than Art throwing interceptions.
With a mobile QB you can keep to offensive philosophy in place but add a few wrinkles, etc.
Its hard to scientifically narrow down anything on just the QB when the WRs and OL are bad. Sit could be half decent on other teams.
But the Ash experiment most certainly needs to be shelved.

...I honestly don’t know if you could have scripted a worse season than this one (outside of catastrophic injury). Just about everything we did turned to absolute s***. I’d say at least 80-90 other teams have had a competent QB for at least 1 season over the past 4 years. It’s almost statistically impossible to be as bad as we’ve been on offense- I’m talking Powerball-type odds. You had posters getting psyched over f’n first downs and basic catches like they were bowl wins.

Sit has minimal football IQ. That ain't gonna change either. You are either born with football IQ or you're not. Art missed the boat on that one.
That last INT by Sitkowski was absolutely brutal. Maybe he lacks toughness or lost his toughness after the brutal beatings he’s taken.. Last game(?) there was that 4th down run that he slid too early before he got the first down. Think Gio probably would have dove for that head first. This game the Penn State defender had a clear look at Sit before he turned around. Maybe Sit got scared cuz he had no reason to throw off his back foot.
thats what drives me insane....people are celebrating that RU actually moved the ball...here is all you need to know about Rutgers and their improvement over the course of the year.

That and ‘we’re so close’-close to what??? Scoring *gasp* THREE touchdowns in a game, which would make us moderately below average on offense instead of complete garbage??? Right now we look like Ricky Bobby in his first practice back after the crash.

All the Sit supporters here earlier in the season said Sit is smart and had all tools and can make all throws. The WRs are no help, but Sit appears to have none of those qualities to be a good QB. Probably should be playing at a lower level.
Agreed. I've been in Sit's corner all year, but Gio deserves to start his last game in his home state. At this point I couldn't care less if we win or not. Gio starting this game will not hinder Sit's development.
He clearly doesn’t know what he is looking at. We should have tried to design an O that is quick hitting and doesn’t require going past first or second read, especially given OL in pass protection.

The losing mentality of this program just keeps setting the bar lower. Seriously, how many P5 programs would put up the crap we saw this year? And yet there’s talk of Ash being here next year. I didn’t even watch one down of today’a game but I saw some of the bloopers afterwards aftern some “soon-to-be-former” season ticket holders sent them to me.
Reality is Sitkowski gets hit on 60% of his pass attempts it seems. Very, very hard to play effectively when you're getting pounded. Also hard to develop any momentum when your good passes are being dropped over and over.
Also, while McNulty did make some nice adjustments as the year went on rolling him out, he never put the kid in position to make the throws he was put in there to make, the 40-60 yard, one on one match ups down the field where our wr either makes the play, gets the interference call, incomplete or an int that is effectively a punt.
In the end, I'm not sure Sitkowski is the right QB for the offensive line we'll be fielding for the next three years.

Still not sure about Sit? I hear ya.. maybe after 0-12 in 2019, you can make a definitive statement? Of course, this is a 100 year rebuild according to Ash, so we really need more time before making any statements.
