Wait until they announce Gameday will be there.

You thought watching the BC coverage was bad today.

Wait until its nonstop SU and ND promotion for all the NYC/NJ area recruits.

Last night, the Syracuse radio guys were talking about a New Year's six bid.

That's pretty hopeful thinking for a team that has one win over an FBS team in 2018 with a winning record and may not get another with ND and BC coming up.

One win over an FBS team?

Correction Zap - I meant to say that Syracuse has only one win over an FBS team in 2018 with a winning record and with ND and BC coming up that may be all they do get this year.

Granted Babers has done a nice job but they also fell into a very favorable schedule this year. 5 of their wins are against teams in the dumper this year...UNC (1-8), Wagner(3-7), UCONN (1-9) , Florida State (4-6 after tonight) and Louisville (2-8).

Our fans are too lazy to go to NYC and cry about it.

This will make them look stupid.

Is like a nightmare for us.
This game is huge and carries all the hype our 2006 Louisville game had for NYC.

And yes... there are ridiculous amounts of Syracuse grads in NY

Yeah....that's why I'm rooting for the status quo: Go Irish!

We certainly aren’t remotely NY’s team.
Guarantee you, Syracuse is far more popular in NY than us right now.
#denial

That’s like saying the Phoenix Coyotes are the most popular hockey team in Mexico. We were never really NYCs team and if we were who cares?

NYC = pro sports market.

Listen to WFAN this week. They are actually promoting this event. You can tell the on-air talent are just talking it up because they have to. Then they will get back to their true passion/focus talking about our two awful NFL teams, how Sam Darnold takes his coffee and hot stove baseball. This includes Boomer Esiason who is in the Maryland HOF and Chris Carlin who is actually the radio voice of the local B1G school. Mike Francesa didn’t even know who Dino Babers was 2 weeks ago lol. And if you listen to the Sirius XM ESPNU Radio who is all about CFB 24-7 they will only be talking about the ND angle and the playoff then go back to slurping Bama, Clemson and Georgia. Cuse is anothing more than a cute little story to them.

I’d suspect there’d be slightly more interest in this game locally if there was actually a shot at all of ANY TEAM in the country finishing within 2 scores of Bama. Syracuse isn’t making the 4 team playoff. Notre Dame very possibly will if they get past Cuse and USC but will get their doors blown off by Bama and probably even Clemson. CFB is just not a northeast sport and the game also has a major parity issue at the moment.

It’s sobering and depressing that I’ve come to this realization. When we were good and playing well 2006-2014 I thought people in the area SHOULD care more. But now I’ve just accepted it’s a regional sport and we aren’t in the region where it’s a big deal (southeast and Midwest/plains).

Basketball is a different story. If we ever reached our full potential in the sport we COULD be a really big deal in NYC. Especially with the local pro teams being terrible.

Could lose the next two games. Both good teams on the road but no one cared when Cuse had the toughest schedule 2 previous years and went 4-8 because their walk on QB had to play the final 4 games. Why point it out now?Did high ranked teams like LSU, FSU, Ville ,Miami ,ND , Clem, Ncstate ,11-2 USF team have favorable schedules when they beat SU the last couple years?

I agree with your statement, I will also add NYC has so many teams. Its one big pie and no one can fully claim it. Most claim goes to the pro sports teams obviously. Cuse has more of a following in LI area. When Cuse was good in football, NYC took notice. I dont think there were always a strong following there for football but Cuse hoops is big in the area. Alot of alum's there.

At this point, we're not even Piscataway's team. I'm guessing their HS team is more popular.

But that doesn't mean Syracuse football will ever be embraced by NYC.

Also I've pointed this out before, but I'll bring it up again. Syracuse is farther from NYC than Boston College, PSU, and even Maryland.

Remember when we played Howard and they hosted USC at Giants Stadium on the same day? IIRC, we outdrew them by over 10k even with the smaller stadium.

In agree with you in totality.
I’m just very frustrated.
For one week though, based on ND’s playoff aspirations and the fact Syracuse is good... this particular game will get a lot of National play, while we remain mired in irrelevance

Zap, Not to long ago everyone left Syracuse for dead. This just shows teams can bounce back. The most apparent thing that the past few seasons shows me is that our aging and frustrated fan base is diminishing. Our numbers are fading. It seems like our administration puts "winning will cure everything" attitude to the test, only problem is we're not winning. They cant figure out how to put people in our own stadium forget about us putting people in Yankee Stadium.
Syracuse is having a nice run, can't take that away from them.
Fact of the matter is (if and when)we have
a good run who's going to be around to make that 40 minute trip to the Bronx?

Why point it out now? - Because we are discussing 2018. No cares about 2016, 2017 nor 1959 right now. Injuries are part of the game, next man up.

Bottom line, Rutgers sucks, Babers is doing a great job, however it's also true that Cuse has one win over a FBS team with a winning record in 2018. That can't be disputed. Let's not crown them New Years Day bowl participant s or National Champs quite yet.

Yesterday- as my wife was getting her hair done and I had to turn down tickets so she could(never would have happened any other year) - I decided to schedule an hour with my personal trainer at 2:30. Yes, I DVR'd the game.
Sad thing is that it has gotten so bad that I would even do this instead of having a few beers and enjoying the game, but there were at least 5 people in the gym with Rutgers gear on and to make matters even worse...for the 2nd week, they do not even put our game on one of the 25 or so TV's they have playing. And guess what, no one even complained.
So fuxing sad what is happening here

They could have lost to the teams on this year schedule too but they developed players, bulit depth and stayed healthy. They are one of the country's best in offense, takeaways and special teams. Thats why they are winning. Can't control how well other teams do. No one thought FSU, Louisville would be this bad. People put too much time trying to over analyze wins. Its also true that those same teams Cuse lost to in previous years didnt have a full schedule with teams with winning records either, especially having Cuse on their schedule lol

Gameday is not going back to NYC..

Weak schedule next week...they are going to UCF for UCF vs Cincinnati..

they should have gone to Princeton vs Penn..

Not better than #3 and # 12 teams playing but UCF hasnt lost in two years and Cincy is 8-1. They earned it. Plus ND's affliation with NBC.
