Surprised we haven't seen anything. I'd think Towson would've leaked something if they beat or were really competitive with a Big Ten team so no news may be good news. I @'d Jeff Goodman and Jon Rothstein on Twitter asking if they heard anything since they've tweeted out info from other scrimmages, but no replies.

OMG wait, a secret scrimmage waa damn near secret? There was actual compliance by the two teams (at least for a few hours)? I'll be damned.

@Russ Wood

Can you explain for the readers here on what the compliance risk may be and how valuable this information may or may not be in your opinion.

I did have an idea on what some coaches would ask of another coach so they could work on some things, so situational basketball is more of an experiment.

If memory serves, didn’t we get box scores released shortly after games last year?

Basically when these scrimmages started they weren't supposed to be publicized by the schools, box scores weren't supposed to be kept, the whole thing was supposed to be a secret.

Compliance staff from each school was supposed to police all of that.

I thought it was pretty silly myself. Have a closed scrimmage, but who cares if some details are released?

NCAA will come down very hard on any school found to have violated the first rule of secret scrimmage.

Of course, fake classes and six-figure payments to recruits are still totally cool.
I’ll be happy with two words: Rutgers dominated.

Yesterday, Nova/UNC "secret" scrimmage posted an article about their 50 minute scrimmage, 2 20 minute half and a 10 minute one. There are no sanctions about posting box scores or anything

That is correct. There were several comments on how Villanova defeated North Carolina 89-79 in their secret scrimmage. I doubt anything happens to either school about the information being released.

What’s the actual point of not publicizing these things? What purpose does making it “secret” serve?

It let's the coaches work sh*t out without being over analyzed by the fan base, which is hard to do against just your own guys in practice

Over analyzed? You think the coaches are taking time away from prep to look at what we say. Your theory is absurd.

You're interpretation of my comment is what's absurd. I was not implying they give a flying f*ck about what we actually think, only that this allows them to avoid any bad press from fans over-analysis when they are attempting to build excitement for the season. Give me a better explanation before you just dismiss my comment.

And because some “reporter” decided to put himself first then, now we get nothing

There are always consequences, even in this entitled need to know now reality we live in

Does this reporters name rhyme with Bags? I saw he had the St. John’s / Rhode Island scrimmage box score earlier today.

These items go away in 2 weeks time when games start....in most cases, we kinda know what we know anyway....the coverage on RU hoops since MSG and the B1G tournament has been pretty good and consistent, better than many years i can remember anyway.

Probably best to enjoy the NFL Sunday or NBA tonight for those that enjoy basketball.

The box score really wouldn't mean a ton. Pike made it seem like they'd be workshopping different player combinations and offensive/defensive looks to see what sorts of things would or wouldn't work on a live opponent - I don't know if stats from that sort of exercise would be that significant.

The one thing I would like to know is how we shot the ball. Regardless of the scheme which, as many have pointed out, in a scrimmage could be almost anything, we need to shoot better as a team if there is to be improvement.

The shooting could be relatively good to know but i would be more interested in how they play next weekend at home vs Yale....it's a significantly better program than Towson and has a better coaching staff that is familar with each other, since they scrimmage every season, it seems.

If they shot well, it could be because they shot well or because it was against Towson....if they didnt shoot well it could be because it's 7 to 8 newcomers playing together for the 1st time and it's mixing and matching of lineups and experiments.

There's a lot of learning that happens on defense that i'm more interested in than shooting. While scoring and shooting is everyone's favorite topic, i have to assume we shoot better this year...the defense and rebounding by frosh and sophs and Shaq Carter, Doorson and Myles Johnson are what has to carry things for awhile.

The most important thing is that no one gets injured
Missouri sophomore Jontay Porter will miss the entire upcoming season after tearing his ACL and MCL on Sunday, the school announced.

Porter suffered the injuries during a closed scrimmage against Southern Illinois.

It's not until the secret, secret, secret scrimmage limit is reached before penalties are applied.

Secret scrimmages are held for a purpose to allow coaches to assess teams strengths and weaknesses without having to explain a embarrassing loss to a perceived weaker opponent.

Secret, secret, I got a secret

Only the results of secret scrimmages were released. The double-secret results were released only in German and the triple-secret results are never released. I believe Towson-RU was a triple-secret scrimmage.

Good thing you're not a grad of Faber College or you'd now be on double secret probation!
