I was high on Pacheco when we got him and the clips I have seen only add to that. I think he may turn out to be a great player for us if he remains healthy.
Yeah, Hanz and Franz are older.
Sitkowski has an NFL-ready frame.
Now, lets hope he puts it all together.

Did you see him in the Spring game? Looked like our best RB, with regard to his combination of speed, power and elusiveness - reminds me of a guy named Ray Rice (not saying he'll be that good, but I see similarities).

I got blasted on the board for this a few months ago but I’ll say it again, I would NOT be surprised if Pacheco gets moved to Linebacker of Safety at some point...kid might be the best athlete in the team and might be able to get on the field and give production sooner as a defender...

If Hilliman and Blackshear both stay healthy this season and get the job done at RB it would makes sense to give playing time to Pacheco at Safety. We need a lot of help there right now.

Not gonna blast you because it’s your opinion but I don’t see it happening. He will share reps from game 1 on so not sure how moving him to a crowded position like LB or S gets him on the field faster. With Hampton, Hester, and Hayes in front of him he would be a reserve S at best.

Always interesting to see this ^^^above^^^ line of thinking. Predicting a negative reaction.. calling those who may disagree "know-it-alls".. all while not telling us what you think of the idea.
While we need offense badly.. very badly.. and that could be the best help for the defense.. Ash is a DC type HC.. I'd like to see what his D can do with the best players there. If he needs a safety and we have depth at RB this year.. move him.. AND give him a few carries here and there so you can switch him back later if need be.. keep everyone happy. I think 3 RBs are too many to keep happy with carries.

Wait a second here. You do know our(well that's ours not yours) offense was ranked 128th out of 129 last year. Now you think it's a good idea to start moving talented young guys off that side of the ball which needs all the help it can get? Why not just move Robinson and Lacewell as well, they're both in a log jam right now?
Here's some sage advice from a so-called know it all.(your words not mine) Really it's just common sense. They won't try your brainstorm, because their offense sucked, Pacheo will probably be the 3rd RB and with the addition of Hester and Mickens the safety depth concern has been alleviated somewhat. Jeez man, who's side are you on anyway?

Pacheo will probably be the 3rd RB by the end of training camp. Snorweah hasn't done much in his time on the banks but is very fast so you move him if there's a need.
Was kinda hoping Trey Sneed would step up and be the 3rd RB .
He had fantastic offers coming out of Florida : UNC, Louisville, Utah, Georgia Tech, UCF, Duke, Navy, Wake Forest, etc.

and balance...remember many times he was low, put his arm/hand down on the turf and kept going....
When you have Hillman, Blackshear and Snead ahead of him, just like with Snorweah, it may make sense to move him, we don’t have great secondary depth, if nothing more I can see him contributing on special teams
The “line of thinking” is based on personal experience, when you have someone who has a minority opinion you typically get the response like the one quoted below \/ \/ as opposed to the more debating response quoted above
You generally only have one running back on the field at one time, unlike safeties/linebackers... also this board has been outraged by first flood and then ash’s insistence on a running back by committee...you really think Pacheco is gonna be able to materially impact the game as a 3rd or 4th string RB this season?
Now that's a decent argument compared to calling people "know-it-alls". That invites discussion on a discussion board. It is an arguable point either way. There is no "right" answer.. only possible "less wrong" answers. That's the way most decisions go.. there are arguable points on both sides.
About Pacheco.. I don't know what he was told as a recruit, what his expectations are.. if he is a talented safety.. well.. lets take a look.. 5'1-", 210 lbs... I wouldn't think that screams NFL safety.. but maybe he plays taller... maybe he has orangutan arms and a short neck.. I don't know. To me its all about motivation.. what would excite him AND the other players involved.. I trust the coaches and Pacheco to make the right decision... we have seen enough trouble with depth among the DBs in recent years that a coach's hand can be forced at times.. and if that happens here I wouldn't chalk it up to making a mistake... though I am sure hindsight reveals possible mistakes having been made all over the place... they do the best they can with the information and needs they have.
Mistakes are reserved for doing things like Flood did. Example: you couldn't argue the benefits of going incognito to Princeton to meet that prof. Hard to argue that his lazy, player-friendly style brought anything but negatives to the program.

The “know-it-all’s” generally out themselves by getting offended by the post and feeling the need to respond directly to the post in which they are inferred...I only use that term because there are a select few on the board who can’t stand a minority opinion without making the poster feel like a retard (hate using that word)

Will never happen. This kid is gonna be a stud running back and you don't move stud running backs to defense.
Pacheco is only a freshman and possibly in line to be the primary ball carrier next season. Why would you move him to safety? Hillman is gone after this season and you are left with Blackshear (more of a change of pace back) and Sneed. Pacheco has the greatest upside and needs to stay right where he is!
A couple of guys blasted you. A couple disagreed. I questioned if you had inside info because the guy is in the mix to play early at RB. Looking at this photo I can see why you say what you say. Looks like a kid who can play a lot of positions and see the field immediately. That’s just a photo and I have not seen him play so I still defer to the staff here and what they see and need.

Lol I know you being sarcastic but moving Pacheco would be almost as bad.. The offense has sucked for a few years now and needs playmakers on that side of the ball.
