Wonder how the Iowafans feel to see talent like DJ leave the state and go to OSU while having Michigan and Indiana ahead of Iowa before he committed to be a Buckeye.
Guess going 14-19 (4-1 B1G) makes it kind of hard for the Hawkeyes to keep talent at home and McCaffery's overalrecord at Iowa might be on the plus side when it comes to wins, but it's not outstanding .
Also having a losing B1G record ,can't help McCaffery's recruiting.

They are surprised at the choice of tOSU.

Since they didn't make his final three Iowa fans are not in meltdown mode if that's what you were thinking. They are definitely bummed to see him pick another B1G school when Iowa made him their No. 1 priority and had an obvious need for a PG with his exact skill set. But seem to have gotten over that when Carton eliminated Iowa from consideration.

Carton is not an Iowa native btw. I am pretty sure that he is from Geneseo, Illinois.

Thanks Russ.
I had googled him and found out he played for Bettendorf High School in Bettendorf, Iowa and was considered one of the best players in that State.

Oh no doubt. He is elite. May not be at tOSU long. He's tough, explosive, an awesome on-ball defender and elite decision maker. I love him and think he's one of the 15 best players in his class. We rank him at No. 17 currently.

Tough when an OSU is getting 5 star kids. But that’s the reason they brought in that coach.

Iowa has a long history of seeing elite talents leave the state like Harrison Barnes and Marcus Paige so this is nothing new for them.

As for OSU they definitely have a good coach and have a very open path to lots of PT as a freshman for Carton which other schools couldn't necessarily match.

What?

This isn't some new development in Columbus. Just ask five-star guys like Greg Oden, Mike Conley, Jr., BJ Mullens, Jared Sullinger and Deshaun Thomas. Some of those guys were ranked No. 1 in the Nation.

Bringing in five-star basketball players is nothing new at Ohio State, it just wasn't happening much recently and that's Matta was pushed out.

Good pull by Ohio St. Pikiell has his work cut out for him if he keeps recruiting in the bottom third of the conference based on average player ranking. Luckily he knows exactly what he wants in his recruits and is a great developer of talent. Can’t wait for the RAC to rock again this year.

That's the thing... given the programs we're playing against, it's unlikely that a top 1/3rd finish will be due to consistent top 1/3rd recruiting.

It really needs to be better evaluation, better development, and getting players suited to your system. Because despite the talent in NJ, RU dominating B1G recruiting is a long way off.

But watching Pike and his guys overperform, and seeing how many programs consistently underperform with top talent, I'm pretty confident we will get there.

Don't know why, but I haven't developed a hatred for OSU (yet), so I'd rather he go there than either Michigan which seems entitled, or Indiana which was entitled and is trying to get back to that behavior again (glad we beat them in the tourney).
