He's driving and hitting his new irons well this week, now it's the putter giving him fits on te new greens at Quail Hollow. IMO, He's going to win this year and contend in the majors as well. As long as his back holds up.
His proximity isn’t very good.

Tiger, Phil and Fowler are grouped together at this week's Players. Another marquee group is Spieth, Jordan and Rory. Should be a fun tourney, as usual...

While so much attention has been centered on Tiger, Old Man Phil has a win and 4 other Top 5's this year. There may not be enough room for all the fans that'll want to follow these 2 groups.

Phil should probably have another 25 wins on tour he just does too much dumb **** which is why everybody roots for him he"ll birdie 4 in a row your all pumped and he"ll throw a quad on the 5th while. Still cant understand your a professional golfer you should be within 10yds of the fairway at all times his one drive at#8 at masters was 40-50yds to right of fairway al.ost made it out of the woods into the previous fairway

That's what makes him fun to watch. More than anyone on tour you never know what you'll see shot by shot.

Stupid shots have also helped him win majors. No one, including Jack or Tiger and even Seve wouldnt have tried to hit the 13th green in 2010 from his spot. Pine needles, a tree to hit around and branches to hit under.

You understand as much as anyone here what an incredible imagination he has. As has been said he sees shots that others don't. I've always rooted for the guys like Arnie, Norman, Phil, and to a degree Freddie Couples who seem to play outside the box. Waiting for his turn to hit from the trees Freddie told a group of us he'd go for it every shot if it wasn't for Joe (who's Tigers caddie now) to calm him down.

I love Phil he's my favorite but he's lost more tourneys out of stupidity majors included than he's won with brilliant shots probably why he has a practice round gambling problem. It could be a simple 120 yd wedge but instead of playing the simple straight forward shot he has to play a shot with a much lower percentage of success and try and spin it 50ft. Seriously think he's bored with the game and just tries to make these shots to show he is the greatest shot maker and could care less about winning unless it is a major

Tiger played the same as Pat Reed, better than Fowler, much better than Phil, and worse than DJ and about 50 others, lol. Driving accuracy is awful, as well as his putting now. Amazing he shot even par.

Fun tourney to watch.

I honestly couldn’t focus on the golf because of his shirt. It reminded me of the pirate shirt in Seinfeld.

Holy crap that shirt is hideous. Great line by Tiger.

Nobody in the two "marquee" groups really played that well, as per below, but 26 players within 2 shots of the leaders at -6 (which includes DJ, who shot a 66 and might just break through at TPC this year).

Tiger - 72
Fowler - 74
Phil - 79

Rory - 71
Thomas - 73
Spieth -75

big letdown for the Phil, Rickie, Tiger group. Tiger is the only one close to the cut line. Pulling for a Day and DJ showdown on Sunday.

Simpson running away with it. He's 9 under today through 14 (course record is 9 under) and is 15 under overall, 5 strokes in the lead. Outrageous round. Still, lots of trouble on this course, so...

Looks like Tiger makes the cut. Not so for Phil, Fowler, McElroy, Oosthuisen, and other good golfers.

Webb Simpson 5 strokes better than anyone else at 15 under ! wow.

Another observation- David Duval may have a high pitch voice, but he might be the best analyst on the TV Golf scene now. He's good.

David is very good, Faldo is excellent. Golf Channel with Brandel Chamblee and Frank Nobillo are beyond great. Part timer, Colin Montgomery could be the best ever if he ever goes full time.

Damn, I had to go do some stuff and only saw him get to 10 under after 15. Missed the drama on 17; if he lands that ball 2 more feet further, he probably shoots 61. Incredible round still.

Spieth and Tiger would be a great group to follow. Hope -7 picks up strokes against the field.

Love the Tiger coverage.
