Dodd's velocity is twice that of Flacco. Other than that - yeah, they're the same. LOL

Flacco showed a lot of moxie wearing a Scarlet jersey. So he has that going for him, which is nice.

Thank you Knight...some people want us to ignore the facts. Per Ash it is a 3 person battle for the starting job, Art, Gio and JLew. Could that change? Certainly, but that will be based on the staffs overall evaluation not the wishful thinking of the usual support the underdog types after watching one fifteen play spting game performance

well to my untrained eye, he showed way more than gio or lewis. he showed fire and leadership and confidence. Lewis was not good at all.

I'll give you fire and confidence but what did he do different from the others as it relates to leadership?

If Kill was still the OC, Flacco would be "in the mix". Although he brings certain qualities to the table, I don't think he is the best fit for the offense McNulty wants to run. If McNulty wants to find another Teel I think Art fits the mold. If he wants to RPO, which we didn't see much of in the scrimmage, than Lewis may be the answer. Gio may be a bit of both.
It may depend how willing the coaches are to absorb the inevitable growing pains when the decision is made on the starter.
It does seem that Art and Bo have confidence in each other.

Flacco is a red-shirt junior in his first year with the program. He is in the mix with freshmen and sophomores, and a returning starter. He has to be undeniably better than them to have a shot. The underclassmen have way more upside because they will be here longer and can grow. Gio is the incumbent. It's not a good situation for Flacco to break through.

He wound up being third string at Tennessee Tech after fall practice and then quit football. I think the "Heyden Rettig didn't get a fair shot" myth can be officially retired.

From the spring game plus CA's comment, it would appear to be a 2-man competition between Gio and Art now, and maybe a combination of the two until one emerges.

I could also see Flacco coming in situationally, to take advantage of his elusiveness and threat to make a short throw on an option.

Ash and McNulty have to play each game to WIN, not to "develop" one QB over another.

Didn't Natale actually start the first game of Savage's freshman year? Natale looked awful and I think they brought in Savage in the second half or something.

Hold on there, you might think it's a "dumb" post, but that's your OPINION. Look it up, we all have one, and mine is no better than yours. But, unlike you I did play the position, and unlike you my "opinion" comes with some experience. A QB, rules the offense, or at least should. He dictates, he controls, and he emancipates all around him to play better, stronger, and with more dedication to winning, then the opponent. That is what the main characteristic of a Football QB is and will always be! It isn't about throwing 60 yards, or breaking tackles or even being 6'5" though all those things will certainly help. The success of any QB, involves the grey matter between his ears, and his ability to motivate his team.

Oh, did we have "3" wins last year, my mistake, because that's really a big difference. Besides it was only two(2) wins. And, that OLine you mentioned, didn't allow many sacks, mostly because of a heavy running game(rushed for almost 1800 yards). How many yards did he throw for last year(with that type of protection)? Don't bother to look it up, it's not worth the time or effort(500 yards passing). But, you knew that, didn't you. For any OLine 90% is desire. A good QB gets that out of them, of course you wouldn't know that. And, because of that he gets all the glory, or all the scorn.
So, before you show your ignorance by calling someone out, get your facts straight first. And, then keep your opinions to yourself. Because you are irrelevant.

Yep, he did. Savage started the second game I think, but my memory isn't great now days. Had a bet with one of our posters for an adult beverage, that he would come in and start by the third game. Never did get that "adult beverage." lol A lot of people thought that Natale would be the man. But, the skill level Savage displayed couldn't be kept on the bench. I think the same thing about Art S...but actually think he is better than Savage at the same stage of development. Survey's the field better.

You are an obnoxious twit. Do you want to have a discussion or lob insults? I stand by my opinion that you post was dumb and the FACT that it was incorrect. I'll take it a step further, and say that the immediate post I am responding to is just plain idiotic. You pooh pooh 3 wins versus 2 wins? OK, what if we beat Indiana, that would be 4 wins. Did anyone realistically think RU would beat the other 4 teams on the schedule? Of course not.
