Sigh, would be amazing, but unfortunately we probably have no chance, and I'm usually not pessimistic. Louisville, Purdue, Marquette, Uconn, Arizona, Oregon, and others involved. We can probably offer a starting spot, but...

looks great, but his shooting percentages would continue our trends... looks like he shot great his second year at Fordham, but dropped back to below 40% overall and below 30% from 3 this past year.

We are definitely looking at him to be a point guard to move Geo to off guard. At least that'd be my guess.

Spot on. Would take a minor miracle to beat out all these teams.

The big question here is what does the staff envision Geo Baker's ultimate role?

If it is not as a point guard then it might make sense to find a PG so he can develop at the position he will ultimately play.

The grad transfer or JUCO we bring in HAS to be a good fit from a chemistry standpoint. Can not deviate from this at all!

Can't afford another talented player like Freeman from the JUCO ranks that increases talent, but increases losses directly and indirectly.

Can't have a JJ Moore or Omari Greer that won't defend.

Joseph scored 7 points against us but was 3-7 on field goals. We did a decent job on him from scoring but he did have 8 assists against us. The team only had 11 in total. I would take him if we get a shot.

Don’t you play them on the road next year? Wonder if that would factor into his decision

As a one year replacement it is an absolute no-brainer – – you take him. He averaged about five rebounds and five assists a game over the course of his career as a point guard. 32% three point shooting is not great, but it is significantly better than Mike Williams or Corey Sanders. Since it is unlikely that the staff could sign three good freshman at this point, this is a great way to defer a four year ride until next cycle.

He was a PG and played a ton of minutes on a 9-22 A 10 team. They were one of the few teams that were worse than us offensively. We aren't close to a post season team next year. He is not what I would call a no brainer.

Not sure of that. Kid surely wants to play at a high level where he will play a lot. It's not like he has three more years. Does he do that at Louisvile or Arizona? Plus, maybe he's developed some strong relationships in the metro area.

He also has a sample size of 380 3 pointers taken and only made 32.4% for his career.

FYI, that's 11% better than Mike Williams shot this year, and I think 8 or 9% better than Corey shot. Just sayin'. So, from the shooting standpoint, it would actually be a pretty decent upgrade.

At this point, we're pretty desperate for guards that can play right away, and I think this kid fits the bill with three good years at an A-10 program.

This. I didn’t think anyone on Fordham’s roster was “good”.

Baker, Mathis, Kiss, Harper and Thaim is 5 players for 120 minutes at 1,2, and 3.

If Baker 32
Mathis 32
Kiss 26
Issa 26

that leaves Harper 4.

That's the thing. Even fringe-average shooting is an upgrade for us.

Not being surrounded by quality teammates makes the five assists per game all the more impressive. Barring the surprise recruitment of three quality freshman or junior college transfers, he absolutely IS a “no-brainer” as a one year graduate transfer.

The other schools won't all push as hard as we likely will. He'd have to value playing time and staying in the region for us to be in it.

And just because they are involved, does not mean they will offer him a spot. We need to let this play out a bit before we get too pessimistic or optimistic.

I think with grad transfers though, when you hear a school has "reached out" it probably means an actual offer has been made more than it usually does. I think coaches know that grad transfers in demand want to know they will play, so stringing them along probably doesn't work too well. According to Pikiell, we got Gettys over Ohio State and Purdue (who presumably offered and not just contacted him) because of playing time.

Maybe for his last year this recruit is more interested on playing for a team that will get a NCAA bid.

Not to mention he led the ENTIRE NATION in steals. He is a total no-brainer to add.

I know you're not allowed to say anything bad about saint Mike Williams on this board and I also loved the way he played and little things.... buttttt he was honestly a major disappointment on offense IMO. I thought he was supposed to be known as a shooter as a recruit and shot about 20% from 3 as a senior. That's really bad. He also contributed absolutely zero off the dribble game to either create or score. That's just simply not good enough

Think Mike would have been better with a full 4 years with this staff and got nicked up a lot over the last year...The saint comment is kinda unnecessary but understood based on fans that only look at shooting percentages as end-all, be-all.....

In regards to the Fordham transfer, I find the player intriguing, but wondering if it's because he's immediately eligible vs a sit out transfer in Peter Kiss....if you added both for this coming season, I'd like to think RU would be significantly better shooting the 3......The question on the Fordham kid, doesn't appear to be defense, he seems to get steals and make plays.

I think RU's plus is playing time.

From looks of the video: not most athletic, who knows about shot, but strong, good enough handle, has basketball sense, can drive and dish. Take.

Actually, maybe I'm "grading on a curve" a bit compared to a guy like Corey Sanders, but Williams actually was very effective for a shooting guard at getting to the hoop and finishing especially later in his career. It was staying healthy and the three point shooting where his career fell short. He had a couple stretches of games in conference play where he'd shoot a percentage in the high 30s, but the final numbers on the year were never any good. I think it was a combination of some hand and other health issues, shaky confidence, luck and just lack of ability.

Mike Williams did not shoot well, he also in his career guarded kids who were 3 or 4 inches taller than him. Someone wrote a great post about guarding players who are bigger than you. He also stayed for four years, so don't appreciate the shot about Mike.

Yes – – he already has more steals than Mike and Corey had in their entire careers combined. I know that there is more to defence than steals, but this is one more reason that this would be a no-brainer.

How much of a difference is there? Do you think that they are so much better that if the kid from Fordham should want to come here, we should hold off while we go after the other guys?

No I didn't say that but I don't think the Cunningham kid gets major traffic and he can play here. My buddy is very friendly with the HC at NJIT and he really likes him.

NJIT also has a good player Abdul Lewis who's a 6'7 kid and looking----grad transfer

Cremo will likely draw more interest but there's a big difference between interest and an offer.

Rutgers can offer a major conference and playing time if you're a quality guard. That should be appealing to a grad transfer.

I personally saw Fordham play twice this season - vs us and home vs UMass - and he's what I'd call an adequate mediocre player for a P6 Conference. Not an impact player by any stretch whereby his best games will be JJ Moore like and but better overall than Omar Grier somewhat (albeit different positions).
