Hampton and Gray are solid, top notch Safeties . No concern here.
Add in aggressive Tank Lopez and we are set.

i think our biggest depth issue in terms of recruiting the past few years has been DL. we've been losing the recruiting battle for both DTs and edge rushers badly to Penn State.

Curious why there is no mention of S Malik Dixon in Ash’s Spring pressers.
Nor in any articles.

He is on the Spring Roster. At 6’2 and 215 he packs a wallop at Safety.
Played at USF in 2015 before transferring to JCC in Az.
Turned down an Oregon offer this year to come to RU.

Thank you for the kind words everyone.

Really appreciate it.

Tomorrow is another big day as Nunzio Campanille and select RBs as well as Toby Neinas and select specialist and a few OLBs are set to meet with the media.

Will have more over the next few days although some will most likely be premium!

And as for Malik Dixon, he is playing the SAM linebacker spot.

Heres a quote from Ash last week on Dixon:

“He’s long. He’s got athletic ability and when he’s out in space he can move. He probably still needs to learn how to play on the line of scrimmage in certain personnel groupings and we have to find out if that’s something he can do. But he’s a space player. Malik can run, blitz, cover, and he’s really versatile. I’m happy to have him."

I’m more worried about DL depth. Without pressure on the QB I don’t care who’s in the secondary...it will be very hard without a BigTen ‘average’ line (and depth). Games are won in the trenches.
Hope they surprise us!

Thanks Chris. Looking forward to the future write ups.

My take on The video report from Noah Is we are looking for depth but he said Indiana had Freshmen all BIG two years in a row so he did not seem so concerned. He said teams go through this all the time. I like his demeanor. I think he is a great addition.

Last year we were using Safeties all over the place in Nickel and Dime packages. This year we use corners in those spots which is really more traditional.

There is more corner depth so rather move then over to safety to help or use them in nickel packages.

Gray and Hampton are good, but both dealt with injuries last year.

Thanks. We are really loaded at LB.
Surprised Dixon does not get a look at Safety since he played that at the Arizona Community College and I think he is only 215 lbs. AND we need Safety depth. Dixon has experience.

Who do you see moving over if we do go that route? Our corners are pressing and jamming at the LOS. Our safeties have to cover more in space.

Hester was really banged up.

They moved Marfo over already. One person who would fit as a safety is Isaiah Wharton.

I was thinking Wharton as well. He is the most physical of the corners. It seems strange to move the guy with the most starts at Corner over but they said this time last year we really had 3 starters plus they seem high on some of the new guys. Worst case they can move him back. Interesting.

Oh goodie ... an article about concern for the depth at the safety position.

Can't wait for the articles about concern for depth at the WR, QB, OL, DL, LB and DB positions.
Oh goodie another asinine post. Can't wait for you not to post any more ********. OP was direct in pointing out the situation. You were VERY direct in making an *** of yourself with your childish comments

Hayes has great hip work and fast.... thought he would be much better at CB.
Wish they would try Dixon at Safety.
Just because Hayes is getting work at safety does not mean he won't continue working at corner/nickel also. Various reports indicate Marfo, Dixon, and Hayes have gotten some work at safety...which means greater flexibility.
