I didn't get the impression that he's saying that he's leaving. Just seems like a players blahs and he's trying to explain how hard you worked and what played into his decision to come to Rutgers.

I haven't been around Corey since he left for college but in all the years that I've known him I've never known him to be subtle or ambiguous.

He certainly could leave after this season but I didn't get the impression that was what he was saying in that blog.

I feel Corey doesn't owe anyone anything, but it would be very helpful if a decision would be made ASAP. That could really help RU. If a decision hasn't been made I would totally understand and respect the importance of taking a week or 2, but if a decision has been made it would be much appreciated to know tonight, tomorrow night....

I was with you until the last paragraph.

"So no matter how this year ends, I’m proud of what I have gotten to achieve at Rutgers. Yes, some things could have gone a little bit differently, but we all had the chance to make our own path and build something here."

HAD the chance. Past tense.

His options
(1.) try to go to the NBA - big payday ! - but seriously uber-longshot by most estimates
(2.) play in Europe, China, or where ever - moderate payday ?- reasonably good odds?
(3.) play final year at RU - no pay - may mildly increase market value & may or may not get degree

Absolutely no idea as to where he stands on the matter of progress toward degree - is he really nicely on track? or has he been taking & passing a hodge-podge of classes that assure eligibility but the collection of stuff on his transcript doesn't get him in the neighborhood of graduation? Just don't know... but this may factor in - think we have all known people with three years worth of various credits - but are 2 really grueling years away from a degree.

Does one more year at RU lead to a quantum leap up in his NBA prospects? humm - chances seem slim.

it appears that, for various reasons - he may just bluntly say 'show me the money' - wherever it is, however much it is.

Since he said "we all had the chance..." does that mean that the entire team is leaving?

It's hard to parse out "end of season" past tense from "end of career" past tense, though, unless it's explicitly stated.

Either way, we'll know a whole lot more in the next week or so - and maybe as early as the end of this week.

I totally get what you are saying Russ....the body of the post ...but the title is what leads me the other direction. UNLESS he is somehow responding to Mike's tweet to Geo by pointing out HE has them because HE is the guy that opened the RAC late nights.

oh well...who knows really ...

But the body of the post was also talking about him asking for the keys to the gym... so, again, open to interpretation.

Nice story about extra practice and teammates coming together to get better.
Too bad the academic support staff wasn't there to improve everyone's shooting. Doesn't sound like he'll be back for one more year. This has all the twists and turns of the Curse of Oak Island.

His daughter can also benefit from his Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University while improving his skill set in basketball for a pro career somewhere. One day he will have to "go pro in something other than sports." Just saying...

this is my impression from reading this article. I think people are jumping to conclusion. He may leave but I don't think this is his message to the world saying it

This. Excellent self-article by Mr. Sanders, very well-thought out and written.

When reading the article I VERY much interpreted his various comments to imply the timing of Sanders' article to be during the off-season BEFORE this past season. Specifically, he talked about his "second" season, and doubling the Big Ten win total ... which is what happened his SOPHOMORE season.

Does this means he stays? Not necessarily. I just would not read anything into the article about his current intentions. No doubt that will be made clear in due course, eh?

Corey has put his heart and soul into helping RU for 3 years but he really could have waited until the next loss was in the books before he hit publish.

Don't know if that nice article speaks to staying or leaving.

What I got out of it was an explanation as to why it seems like they were a lot more in sync this season.. like they knew each other better... it was because of all those late night sessions. I know.. low bar from previous seasons.. but still.. it could be those late might sessions lead directly to beating Seton Hall and coming oh so close versus some very good Big Ten teams.

While I hope they also keep up on the school-work.. I think it would be great if this became a thing that lasted beyond Corey Sanders' time here. On the football side I'd love to see QB and receivers on the same page more.. based on extra time they put in. And it is more important in basketball where plays are often put together on-the-fly.

Corey stepped up and lead by example when he got the keys and started putting in work late night. Also sounds like he's reflecting on his experience at RU- likes his time is up. "Who got the keys." Sounds like a message to insipire the younger players. Who is ready to step up and lead?

This article could have come about via several ways - here are 2
(1.) Corey could have decided that he had something that he wanted to say & decided to submit his thoughts
(2.) Corey could have been asked to write his thoughts and feelings about his experiences & this season

if it was #1 - maybe he is saying farewell
if it was #2 - it may be just his response to the request for his perspective & thoughts at this point in his journey - and he can write his goodbye a year from now.

Nice article. I’m in the camp that he needs to think about his family and start getting a paycheck. He’s not NBA now and he won’t be NBA after a fourth year.

My hunch is that Corey leaves. Next year at RU looks a lot like the past two--some up moments but more losing than winning, esp. in conference. I don't think Corey is anywhere close to playing in the NBA, but I think he can make money somewhere and I think that's what he'll do. Good luck to him.

(And, Corey, go for 30 tonight!)

This. The article certainly reads as a message of inspiration to others. Corey is saying that his path to leadership was to ask for the keys. And he is challenging the reader to find a path to follow.
