At season’s end, will Brandin Knight be a candidate for the Pitt job? Or will he need to be a head coach somewhere else, first?

Pitt needs to make it's fans happy, Knight stands a good chance if Stallings is dumped.
But a buyout of nearly $10 million, if let go now or end of season , might be too high a price to pay and a reason to give Stallings one more year might be made by the Pitt AD.

They are in such dire straits that I would think they would need to try and get an experienced head coach to turn that mess around. Going with a favorite son with no head coaching experience would be a tough sell I would think.

If Pitt cuts a 10M check and finds another 12M to 14M for a legitimate hire, I'll be impressed....Knight would be a darkhorse candidate, but I think there's a longer list of candidates lined up for this job if it opens....I think it opens in 2019-2020, this year would be clearing out the roster and playing walkons for the next 2 seasons, which would empty the Petersen for the forseeable future.....

I think they'll want a head coach from a strong mid-major or a bigger-time assistant.

I saw Pitt play Penn State at Barclays in November and I don't know if I have ever seen a worst P5 squad. Eddie's teams would have won by double digits easily

Have to assume Knight is high on their list. Really hoping they go with someone else.

Which leads me to believe that if they cut a check for $10 mill. That theyre gonna make it damn worth it finding their next hire as anything less than a slam dunk home run hire could get the AD fired

What the hell happened to them? I always thought Dixon was a solid coach, although had some brutal losses in March - but still have to get there first . Should have did everything possible to keep him , but i guess both sides kinda cooled on each other and his home school tcu was available . A harsh lesson to those members of the Pitt fan base that soured on Dixon. Stallings is worse than imagined . I didn’t think he would be this bad .

Tom Crean is a former Pitt assistant. Dan Hurley, of course, will have his name thrown in the ring, too.

I would think the Hurley boys would be top candidates for them. I think The stain of Crean at IU has to fade a little more before he gets a gig as good as Pitt can be.

Crean will draw serious interest from Louisville, where his prospects for success would be higher.

Dan Hurley's sights are much higher than Pitt and a total rebuild as well at Pitt. Report have said he only wants to go to a school where he can compete for 4 and 5*'s and Pitt ain't anywhere near there.

How bout Danny Hurley to Arizona and you have a Hurley war in Arizona?

Maybe we can get Pitt in the Gavitt games next season. We would be on the road as we got Florida State at home this season. I think Pitt was the only ACC team left out this season so maybe us at Pitt could work out.

Could possibly happen in ACC Challenge but it wouldn't shock me if Swofford has Pitt not play again so not to lose as Pitt is that awful

The ACC won this past season 11-3. I would think no team should be left out two consecutive years. In 2016 Pitt defeated Maryland 73-59 on the road so they are due a home game and we were 0-9 in away BIG games this season. It might make a good game at Pitt and Swofford thinking we might be Pitt's best chance for a win. I hope that can happen.

I think BC was left out for 2 straight years in 2015 and 2016. Not definite about it but I believe so.

It's a shame that we couldn't even get an NCAA tournament bid, or even a winning season, out of our assistants before they got hired away. Unreal

He is not gone yet. I agree he would be a long shot as HC but if Pitt decides to spend big he could be lured back as top assistant. If Danny Hurley keeps winning at URI he will get the contract he wants. Maybe not 7 years from a more storied program but an annual salary well above what he wanted from Rutgers.

Do not think Knight would get the job.
I tend to agree that power conference schools will choose head coaches with prior experience leading a program similar to what has happened with the two Hurley brothers.

Really think there's a strong case for Danny Hurley at UConn this year or next. I don't see why Bobby would want the job. I think they go after someone more like Tom Crean if they even fire Stallings this year than Brandin Knight. I would not be surprised to see Knight get a low-major head coaching job in the Northeast, though.

You’re not serious are you? The worst thing any coach can do is lose . And Miller hasn’t done that so he will get another chance.
Plum you need to read more. I've now read about five articles on the matter. If Sean Miller is found guilty of the charges of paying that player a 100K his coaching days are over. No one will touch him. No one. It doesn't matter that he wins. This stain on him will last for years.

Still Basically the worst thing a college coach can do is lose, save for something like a Sandusky type. Unless he has her significant show cause penalties attached he will be back.
