Who would your ideal REALISTIC grad transfer be? Doesnt have to be a name but rather a profile.

Id be okay with a JJ Moore type of player that ALSO d’s up unlike JJ.

Just depends if anyone else leaves. I think a spot will be open regardless of Corey and with or without him, we still need a point guard. He can’t do it himself. Here’s my thought. If Corey stays, somehow one spot opens and we fill it with a point guard to back up Corey or just get into the rotation so we have another guard who can play at this level. I hear you on a JJ Moore type but that would require two spots to open so if Corey leaves we bring in a point guard and one other. My hope was to still land Hyatt but not sure where the scholarships come from?

Strickland and Hyatt would be two good shooters to get on this team. Just depends if you want to leave a spot for Mulcahy in 2019 and get help up front?

If we lose Corey, we really need a guard. If he stays, then we have Kiss, Mathis, Baker, and Sanders at the guard position along with Thiam who can shoot. That’s decent depth at guard, so I’d really want a CJ Getty’s type. A big who can score efficiently and rebound would be a nice addition. Getty’s had a good basketball IQ and he got easy baskets. We don’t get easy baskets.

Best player available that wants to come to Rutgers with a mindset of getting to the tournament. Maybe a true Wing that just knows how to get a bucket would be my ideal transfer. You see it all over in our league and its something that we are lacking: Miles Bridges, Keita Bates-Diop, James Palmer Jr., Josh Reaves, the list goes on. I like Issa but theres no doubt that a player like that would be a tremendous upgrade, while also allowing us to redshirt Ron Harper Jr if the staff sees fit. A player that comes to mind is Akeem Springs for Minnesota last year. Wasnt lighting it up but was just smart and got them over the hump to the Tournament in his only year

Not having Getty this year impacted the offense - we really needed a consistent primary post scorer. This would have taken the pressure off of Freeman - who is filling that role. Additionally - it would have opened up the outside for open shots.

Give me a good freshman point guard to either understudy for one year if Corey stays or takes over the reigns if he leaves. Tai Strickland looks the part (I only seen video) but from Russ he sounds legit.

Watch how suddenly good shooters and better players come when you have a legit point guard that gets the ball to players in the right place and at the right time.

Not exactly true. Some kids a low or mid majors want to test their game and showcase their game at a higher level of comp where theres playing time available

Not sure I wouldn't rather have a lower level D1 player with a lot of experience. There are a lot of lower level D1 players who are developed into higher level D1 players by the time they are seniors. I've seen plenty of D2 players who were developed into D1 players by their junior year.

Shaq Carter could have gone to a lot of places. We would have lost home if we didn’t get him in the fall. This has been discussed a lot. Shaq is playing less because he is already committed. You guys can look at stats all you want. But you need to do a little digging as to why they are what they are

We need playmakers. Both shooters and scorers. Being just a shooter isn't enough although we need shooters desperately. A playmaker scorer would be great too.Too many players are zero threat to do anything with the ball that isn't created for them. It reminds me of my HS team. My HS team was not good lol

There are more reasons than this, but these are the most common. As was said above, sometimes it's just a mid-major player who wants to step up to a higher level. Sometimes it's a coaching change. Sometimes they need to get closer to home for some reason.

Most of the time, though, a grad transfer is not going to be a dominant starter. But they need to be able to give quality minutes to bridge a team to when freshman are more experienced or when more talent comes the following year.

Agree - grad transfers should really only be used as a bridge piece to fill a gap year. Whether that gap year is "we need a year to get a freshman player up to speed" or "we have strong player coming in next year at this position but a deficit this year". I'd MUCH prefer a strong freshman candidate coming in the door than a grad transfer, but if none are available to us I'd prefer a complementary grad transfer to a risky Juco (e.g. Mensah)

I can't imagine Souf going anywhere. With his poor play he's got zero options, so I suspect RU is stuck with him.

I could see a program like FDU taking Bullock. He'd probably contribute there. However Souf can't hit practice layups. Only way we lose him is if he "retires"

I think that Bullock has shown enough that a lower conference team might pick him up. If he's not going against high conference forwards every game, he'd look a lot better. He has a nose for the basket and can rebound a bit - but he struggles against top tier talent. He doesn't belong in the B1G, but he could find a home somewhere.
