Very important game. If you don’t like the passion in that stadium, then you don’t love sports. Great game

Great special on "This is Football" yesterday re: Gunners/Spurs rivalry and they talk specifically about the difference in "passion" between pro sport in the USA and pro sports in England. They're right, without question IMHO, as the fan bases treat them/act more like we do our collegiate allegiances AND then some.

2-2 Kane tied it on PK on last kick. I’m a Tott fan, but that was a BS PK
Ironically, I hate Spurs but thought the second instance was a penalty all day long. Wacked him in the leg, doesn't matter if it was intentional or not. Too bad that is the talking point instead of the two potential goals of the year within the last 10 minutes of the game. Never seen a ball hit as hard as Wanyama's, and Salah's was filthy.

Curious, as a Spurs supporter, are you happy with the point or do you feel like you dropped a couple?

Good question. There are not too many instances where you can leapfrog into top 4 like today, but you can’t get too greedy at Anfield. Take the point and move on. Right now, I think Tott is better than Chelsea and Pool over long haul. Today will work out OK.

It is said "familiarity breeds contempt". I would add so does proximity. Could you imagine if Penn State, Syracuse, UConn, PItt, BC and us all played in the same city? Even Liverpool to London is only a 4 hour drive. Having opposing fans in your stadium takes it up a HUGE notch, especially if they are all confined to one section of the stadium.

When we get competitive on a regular basis with the BIG teams that travel well, it is going to be a lot of fun.

VAR would have overruled both penalties. The first one was offsides so everything after is irrelavent. The second is not a penalty. Lamela through himself as Van Dyke was ready to ckear and there was no intent of going after the ball. How the side judge screwed up the first and makes that call is stupid. He should never be a ref after two errors like that. The ref decided this game is beyond stupid

Wanyama's goal if any striker had 100 shots, 99 would be 10 rows back but a rocket. I have never seen a shot hit that hard and put in that spot before. I would be shocked if if is not Goal of the Year. The pace and placement were outstanding.

Exactly - thought the 2nd penalty was the right call. I was less sure of the first penalty, besides it being offsides, as I thought Kane created the contact by dragging the leg, so I was happy to see the PK well saved. Loved that the ref gave Dele a yellow for the horribly faked dive earlier. Great match.

But the story of the day was definitely those two goals. My freakin' God, what a smash from Wanyama (after a nice punch out by the keeper on the cross) and then the delicious footwork by Salah for the goal - Messi-like.

after that first half disaster, be happy with the point and staying within striking distance of top 4.

I’ll take the point, 4 of 6 from Liverpool this season.

I don't understand the thought process that the second one wasn't a penalty because Van Dijk was going for the ball. I have seen referees use that logic in not doling out cards on fouls that on first look deserved them, but they were still called fouls. That play gets called a foul outside of the box 10 out of 10 times.

Speaking of Dele Ali, it looks like he has perfected his "playing nowhere the level of his hype" game just in time to help England to their usual earlier than expected exit from the WC this summer.

I'll definitely take the point. I believe both penalties were the correct calls. On the first one, you can see a Liverpool player attempt to strike the ball as it deflected slightly before Kane got it. On the second one, while it wasn't intentional, the Liverpool defender clearly kicked Lamela, which the linesman had a perfect view of.
Spurs had the better of play, with 66% possession.
Fantastic game, though.

Definitely feel better about the draw after seeing Chelsea get smashed by Watford. Yeeesh! What the heck happened to David Luiz?

Just watched ESPNFC and the commentators all said both were penalties, even Stevie Nichols who played for Liverpool said they were both penalties.

When I saw the title all I could think of was The Beatles vs. Duncan, Parker and those guys.

Take the Spurs and lay the points.
