When an 0-11 Big East team beats the preseason title favorite, you have to at least be open to the idea that the new Big East is as good as the old Big East.

Big East also #1 in RPI rankings again.

I’m not at all sold on Big East as the best conference. I think Nova is excellent and Xavier is good. After that, they are just like any other major Hoops conference. For some perspective, in addition to their No. 3 team losing to RU, their No. 5 team Butler lost to MD, their No. 6 team Providence, who everyone is predicting will make the tournament, got blown out at home by Minnesota. Bottom line is that their is a lot of parity this year in the power Hoops conferences. And, Duke is inconsistent for a team so loaded with all Americans. Remember, they also lost to BC - a bottom tier team in the ACC.

Big East is consistently in the top 3 of rpi every year to admit they are one of or the top conference is just ignorance.

Just glad that Rutgers is in a conference where there is no need to justify how good they are. I could care less if the Big Ten is having a good or bad year. The Big Ten will always be among the best and has the best college atmospheres and fan bases in the country

I think we can all agree that in BB, it's not a Power 5, it's a Power 6. As to how the six shake out, we'll all have a better idea in about two months. Currently, Sagarin has the Big East at #3 and the B1G at #5.

Reading compression, Friar? Of course they are one of the top conferences. I said they are not the best conference. Plus, RPI is no longer looked at as the best indicator of power by many hoop enthusiasts. I think by year end, KenPom is better as is Sagarin. I suppose a composite of all of them are best.

Rivalry game is a little different anything can happen.

Seriously if that was a shot attempt it would have been swatted into the 3rd row.

They're all important...they're all up for grabs...and they're all unpredictable, Bob! :basketball:

It could also mean that the 0-11 team is terribly coached and has grossly underachieved based on the physical talent om its roster.

I remember when we were in the Big East and tried to justify why our conference was just as good as the big boys. It’s hard I know to know you’ll never be as good as it was before.

bingo..never got the love for St Johns here...remember people doing cartwheels here because we beat them in a game that was simply a scrimmage. They have beated Duke before in similar spots. All credit to them but RU beat Wisconsin under Jordan too...they are what their record says they are
