This is flat out nonsense. This isn't a ten year plan. We're not blueblood, but we should be far more competitive than we are. We had more talent in 2006 than we do in 2018, and that's a fact, and a lot of it is because players just haven't panned out yet, coaches made poor choices in regards to the geographic areas they chose to recruit, and assistants that were hired, which made it more difficult to succeed. Specifically, We used to pull a significant amount of talent from Florida, but this coaching staff, chose not to do so, which ultimately has hurt the talent level and depth of the team.
In 2006 we had:
- Ray Rice (Pro Bowl RB)
- Brian Leonard (played for cincinnati bengals back in the day)
- Kenny Britt (New England WR)
- Devin McCourty (starting safety for New England)
- Eric Foster (played for Colts)
I look at our roster today, and I see zero Ray Rices, zero Kenny Britts, and zero Devin McCourtys, despite three recruiting classes in. This is unacceptable given the benefit of Big Ten Conference, better facilities than what we had in place in 2006, and our NJ talent base, which the current staff has not sufficiently mined. With all the talent in NJ, and this staff can only get 4 Commits? Come ON!!
I'm still optimistic, but this coaching staff has to pick up the pace. Its year 3 and we still don't know if we have an adequate quarterback, running backs, a big 10 caliber offensive line, and a big 10 defensive line, or wide receivers. Year 5, decision year, is coming up fast.
