One major media outlet is reporting that Matt Patricia will be the next head coach of the Lions. Could that lead to Belichick bringing his friend in as his DC? Just figured I'd post it and get it over with before someone else does. LOL

It could, and Schiano would take that job in a heartbeat.

Lions have more talent and more of an upside

LOL I'll bet you just about anything on Earth (okay, not really, but you get the idea...) that The Giants are back in the Super Bowl before Detroit. Then there are the 8,456,000 other reasons to want to coach here rather than in Detroit IF given the choice.

Why would any coach in their right mind choose the Detroit Lions over The New York Giants (or has Giants brass backed off?)??!!!
Patricia might feel more comfortable working under the Lion GM Bob Quinn who worked in the New England organization as director of pro personnel and director of pro scouting .
Knowing Quinn from NE and how he operates might be a major factor on why Patricia would chose the Lions over the Giants. Also a job in NY might not have the same pull on him, when choosing where to go, as we might think.

Okay now THAT is makes sense. Thank you!

I don't think the giants head coach should be a slob. It was a problem for Rex, it was a problem for Macadoo. It just doesn't fit the culture over here.

Which Matt Stafford are we talking about? The one with the Super Bowl rings? The one with the NFC championships? Or the one with the division titles?

Giants need a clean-shaven coach. In order to put ODB Jr in his place they need a disciplinarian. (Too bad Woody Hayes or Bo aren’t available!)

Saw this thread's Subject and thought why would Greg want to work for Scott Frost instead of Urban Meyer?

The more quiet it has been on the Schiano front lately the more I think going to the Pats as DC is going to happen. OSU bringing in Grinch (and being paid more than Schiano) and now Pats in Superbowl delaying the Patrica move to the Lions... I think this is one of those times that its so obvious it makes sense that it actually happens.

I think this could happen. Rightly or wrongly that Tennessee experience will linger. OSU already has his replacement on staff. He may be looking at the NFL as a better route back to an HC position.

Don't think Schiano will be NE DC the NE LB coach Flores is the odds on favorite to replace Patricia

Don’t think he’ll ever get another look as a HC because of the UT backlash. That’s why he’d better get a good settlement.

Funny thing. It was RU alum Dino Mangiero who first found Flores in Brooklyn and got him and his brothers into Brooklyn Poly Prep when he was head coach there.
Another thing, I've read somewhere not that long ago, that Belichick is actually doing much of the DC work himself so is much more likely to promote from within than look for someone from the outside.

I don't think there is any way Greg leaves as HC of Tenn to be DC in NE. Unless I missed something. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

As much as I hate PSU, I will say that I'd love to see them meet Tennessee in a bowl game. I'd give 'em a hall pass to do pretty much anything they wanted to do to punish that embarrassing fan base.
