Jayson Williams on ESPN, on Rutgers being a 4th tier B1G team: "Rutgers, Steve Pikiell, 2nd year, you know, still struggling"
Because we lost by 5 to a top half ACC team for our first loss of the year?

Sorry we didn't hire you, Jay [eyeroll]
Those were all of my thoughts, plus the fact that we statistically have the #1 defense in the country. It's okay to say that we hadn't played anyone, but to say that we've struggled when we have the #1 D is ridiculous.

They handled us no doubt----can't get down 20 on the road in a Half

Got it to 7 but you run out of gas-----hopefully we learn few things it.

Did he really say that?

If so, FU, Jay!
What the F?

Yes, he said it, while showing a chart that had only Rutgers and Nebraska in the "fourth tier."

Seemed like a lazy analysis where pundits typically put Rutgers at the bottom no matter what.

Tuesday was an important game. Winning would have changed the narrative. I am liking the rebuild and where we are in it. On the court we are still struggling against good teams.

Struggling?

We almost beat them.

And to look at it another way, what teams do not "struggle against good teams?"
Top 10 teams?

Talk about setting a high bar.

To me and fellow Rutgers fans it is a process. Tuesday's game and our 1st 6 games did show we are making progress.

However it is ultimately about wins and losses.

Forget what the media says. If Pikiell builds it right the wins will come and the press will be positive. Very positive

By the way there is a HUGE difference between saying we played them close and almost beat them.

We did not almost beat them.

Once again fans are debating wording after a loss. What will really matter at the end of the season is the number of wins as compared to last season and does Rutgers have a winning record after a decade of consecutive losing seasons.

The stat to watch in B1G games is the number of points Rutgers scores per game.It better be closer to 70 or more points than 60 points if the goal of a winning season can be achieved.

Just shows what a tall order this will be on Dec. 5. Notre Dame is a pretty damn good team and they were dominated.
