I read on the football board that the Big South Conference - where Monmouth FB plays - may dissolve and furthermore in 2 years - its contract with the Big South terminates.

There is speculation - albeit it could be quite minor or totally non existent - that the CAA may be interested for Monmouth to join for FB - and if so - then I'm sure they will force Monmouth BB to join.

All things considered this would be a good thing for Monmouth and a step up as they'd be paired with schools such as Delaware; Hofstra; Drexel and other schools in the VA/ NC area for BB and a nice conference for FB.

The above could be total nonsense as no Monmouth writer or media outlet that I am aware of has written on the above - but for us diehards to speculate; conjure theories - it's fun...:)

The Colonial is sort of a hybrid conference. Not everyone who plays football in it plays basketball in it. There are 12 teams in football and 10 in basketball. Not sure if adding a school is in the plans, but if they lose anybody Monmouth sure would be a logical replacement and a nice step up. CAA football is outstanding.

One of the thoughts/rumors/speculation was if JMU moves up for Football maybe Monmouth takes that spot.

Is Monmouth thinking of jumping to FBS at some point for football?
I highly doubt it.

If they can find a good, solid conference for all their sports I think something like the CAA would be enough.

They don't qualify for FBS. They'd have to add 10,000 seats and fans to put in them correct? They do sponsor more than the 16 varsity team minimum..

They don't even have lights on their stadium yet. They did a nice job on the new stadium for what they desperately needed, but they would still get pounded for a few years in the CAA in FB. I'd imagine the rest of the CAA really wouldn't want Monmouth in for FB either, as they all poach the plethora of FCS talent that exists in Jersey.

The MAAC is a good home for them in BB and other sports too. It would have to be FB only for CAA.

That’s why I said “finish line”...for everything, not just football.

The race for Monmouth just started.

But if they get tired they can always hop on the TWO they have of these...

Did I mention TWO. We don’t even have one.

If West Long Branch is still like they were years ago they may not have allowed Monmouth to put in lights as a condition of zoning approval. You have to remember the school is smack dab in the middle of a residential area. WLB has nixed much more important projects than a football stadium in the past.
