I have been a fan of Edwards since he arrived. To those who thought he shouldn't be the primary back earlier in the year, what do you think now? He's big, tough, and rarely loses yardage. Plenty of times he has turned a sure loss into a small gain. Last night he looked great. He put the team on his back and was a force the whole game. Martin and Gio also get props as well for very solid running.

It’s amazing to me that he hardly ever played at Miami and now is a starter at Rutgers. Announcers talk about him playing on Sundays. If he hadn’t transferred to Rutgers he might not have that chance, Why don’t recruits see this as an opportunity? And he is not the 1st, look at Andrew Turzilli and The Offensive lineman from Maryland a couple of years ago. Kids have a great chance of getting a shot by coming to Rutgers. As of now they are not going to get looked over by 3 other kids with the same talent at their position.

allways been a huge fan of Gus. Its bizzare that for other then rests and blocking for pass protection,or certain schemes, that Edwards would sit on the bench for extended periods in other games, while others got pre game designed carries for no real reason, almost high school like BS.Glad to see the staff finaly woke up.
Guy clearly has NFL potential.Gus the Bus

Two years ago Edwards was behind a high NFL drafted RB. Miami stocks its RB group with highly rated talent year in and year out. Anyone see the TD by the Miami RB late in the game last night? I think it was a swing pass to the sideline and he took off like a bullet. The dude was as big as Gus, but was faster. I'm glad Gus is here.

Am I the only one who wonders whether Gus will say RU or Miami when NFL players give their school in the prime time matchup?

C'mon Martin and Hicks are talented players. I think what seperates him from those 2 is ball control. Both Martin and Hicks put the ball on the ground far too often. But those guys are both good runners and versatile backs.

he runs a bit sideways at times..but I love him catching the ball out of the backfield. Wasn't a big fan either at first but he has certainly been impressive of late. (Wish we would have red shirted Hicks)

...and that is a MAJOR issue, especially with Hicks in the past (and apparently at practice), BUT...They BOTH look like they're actually having a lot of fun out there again and making the most of their senior seasons, despite the role changes, and that's all the really matters at this point. Good stuff!

He's our best Back right now. Tough to bring down, follows his blockers and punishes LB's. What else can you ask for from a back. Nice pickup Chris Ash.

What does our running back corps look like next year?
Blackshear, Sneed, Snorweah, Pacheco, Barnwell, Anthony, Ceneus, Brady, Pugh, Scott,

Rough guess at order:
Blackshear certain #1, then in a group Sneed, Snorweah, Barnwell, Pacheco, then then the rest.

I ask because it would be nice to have a big "Gus Edwards"-like back again, next year.

I think Blackshear and Sneed split carries. They redshirted Sneed to set him up as one of the feature backs next year. Barnwell should be the 3rd back. Unless there is a signing day coup, I think the incoming RB class redshirts or possibly plays special teams.
Another grad transfer could change the depth chart.

Jim Brady and Max Anthony are on the roster and are similarly sized. Both were/are walk ons.
Stevie Scott, a 2018 recruit, is 6'1 240 pounds. Here is HUDL film. I like him on defense:

Anybody know if there are stats for fumbles by rb's? I like Gus but Martin is good too and both are averaging 4.5 ypc. Hicks is good too and actually has a higher ypc but much less touches.

Thanks KS, based on this with similar ypc it appears Gus has earned the nod.
