Comparing the Yanks and Mets is like comparing the Patriots and Browns. You may want to rethink this post.
ya thats smart how many times have the browns made the playoffs in the last 17 years (since this century began)? how many superbowls have the browns made in the last 17?. Mets have made 2 world series. Yankess have made what 4? Obviously they have a lot more post season berths, division titles, and world series victories since the century began, but they aren't the patriots either. They've won 2 iin the last 17 years, pats have won 5. Bad comparison.

Based on your timeline:
Browns Super Bowl titles = 0
Mets World Series titles = 0

I am a Mets fan, and I can say without a doubt there was no choke. The Astros are the class of the American league. Yankees way overperformed this year, and should be proud they took out the Indians. They have a great near future to look forward to.

Quality post. Let's leave the trash talk to when the two teams play EACH OTHER.

I recall the TV ratings as especially low when the Mets and Yankees played each other in the 2000 series. I was surprised because I thought both teams had considerable numbers of out-of-area fans. It's not like the old days anymore, when the nation could be riveted by a subway series like the Yanks against the Giants or Dodgers.

Yes, let's kill the trash talk by al means.

Agreed!
LOL Regrettably, I started this thread with an good natured rib at John Sterling's final game calls and it turned into a referendum on Mets vs Yankees that became nasty at times.
Amazing how thin-skinned some people are who call themselves fans.
Sorry the thread got so long and acrimonious and happy to end it here.

You started this thread as a stupid troll. Don't be a pssy and try to play victim 'cause it blew up in your face ...the only way such a thread was going to go.

To make this thread, then cry when you get shot down is the definition of being thin-skinned ...or maybe just stupid.

Same here. Mets fan. Admittedly I got pleasure out of the Astros win, but to say the Yankees choked is plain wrong. Unfortunately for me, the Yankees are primed and ready for a great stretch over the next 5+ years. Wish I could say the same for our Mets.

You seriously need help, you incessantly troll everyone on this board, and have never made a valuable contribution to anything. I had you on ignore for the last two weeks and you are basically playing with yourself by still trolling me and everyone else

For the sake of everyone, find a new hobby and stop using Sanu's name in vain

Lol, I'll take my posting history over yours all-day, always, loser. You add zero and have made yourself the joke of this board in two weeks' time.

I'd say you're the one that needs help, but you'd probably just tell the therapist how to do his job ...in Wall Street speak.

Now, get back to entertaining us, inadvertently.

Home teams aren't supposed to win every game in baseball. The Giants won three World Series, and that never happened in any of them.

After Game 5, I heard people say the Astros were choking. Umm, when home teams are 5-0, it's kind of foolish to say that.

I loathe the Yankees. I mean, really truly loathe them. But they are a year ahead of where pretty much everybody thought they would be.

Now the Indians? That was a bit of a choke. But I HATE that word. It doesn't give any credit to the other team. The only time I think the word is fair is when turnovers, errors, bad clutch decisions, etc., come into play. Otherwise, give the other guy or other team some credit.

The Yanks just reached game 7 of the ALCS ( a year ahead of schedule, as others have noted), have a top 5 farm system, willingness to spend their money wisely. What's not to like.

I wanted Yanks to win. I don't think they "choked" in a psychological way but they did look awful. Couldn't even throw to bases right no less hit and pitch. Maybe something was wrong with the water down there lol

I disagree I think they played over their head and beat 1 top team and took another to 7 games. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come in the future. Go Yanks

Mark McGuire hit 49 Hr's his rookie year, and 32 hr's the next, just say in. Judge,by all accounts is not the head case that Matt Harvey is, but there's a better than 50/50 chance he may never hit 50 hr's ever again. So many factors come into predicting what a players career will bring, with injuries and adjusting to the competition, just a couple of them. The pressure will be on the young guns, as there will be no under the radar next season. From the 1st soft toss, till the season's final games. Hope they handle it better than Games #6 & #7.

You really using Mark McGwire as an example for your argument that Judge "may never hit 50" again?

Think we'd be all right with 32 or so, anyway.

Quit being such a miserable hater and go worry about the Mets.

OK, I'll belabor the point. If the Yankees were up 3-0, and lost 4 straight, that would qualify as a "choke". To take a very, very good team in Houston, which led the AL in so many offensive categories, to 7 games is not a choke but rather a great, entertaining series. (Alright, so Sanchez has to get a new glove next year.)

Lol, I see, so only you can offer opinions I guess. I see my post as a fair possibility. Why would McGuires rookie stats not be comparable? There seems to be no evidence he was using Roids back then, and following that year with only 32 dingers would probably show that. You really think its hatred that there's a better than 50% chance he never hits 50 again? You just keep thinking the Yankees **** out rainbows, and I'll just keep living in my miserable world as you stated. Man, you've attacked more people than Harvey Weinstein.

You're free to compare McGwire, the guy who went on to hit over 40 HRs five more times in his career (not to mention 39 HRs two more times), totaling nearly 600 HRs, but I'm not sure what point you think that helps you make. That Judge might follow in the footsteps of one of the five most electrifying HR hitters of modern times and the #11 all-time? Okay, tough break for the Yanks??!!

Also, you seemed to be responding to no one since no one suggested Aaron Judge would be the cornerstone of next season, nor do baseball seasons hinge on the number of HRs the team power hitter racks up. Yankees need to solidify their starting rotation if they're going to make a run ... it was a small miracle they made it as deep as they did with the up-and-down pitchers they had up front this season.

And you're a hater not because you have a different opinion, but because you say lame sh#t like "Hope they handle it better than Games #6 & #7." Also because you post more in Yankees threads than most Yankees fans ... talk about obsessed (and, yes, miserable).

You are the stupid idiot who became a Mets fan
Don't blame us for a poor *** choice.

I started following baseball in 1985, and immediately became a Mets fan. Think Mets were better that season, plus I had some family/friends Mets fans.

Then, I played on my first Little League team ... the Yankees, and switched over from that point onward. Thank god I dodged that bullet!

I became a Mets fan in 1962, as a 7 year old, and I guess I took that bullet for you.:joy:

When I first saw this thread I thought to myself that the OP must be a moron. After reading through I no longer have a doubt. I guess it takes a while for the OP to formulate such deep thoughts. Only 16 posts in 7+ years? This is the best you can come up with? Can't wait for the next pearl to drop.
Let me preface this by saying I am a red blooded Yankee hater. I bet five cents on them in the 1964 World Series against the Cardinals and after the loss I've hated them since. I can hold a grudge for a long time.
A team that faced 4 elimination games during the post season and made it to Game 7 of the ALCS playing against a better team didn't choke. As another poster said it was a disappointment for Yankee fans, not a choke.
To see a choke please refer to what happened to my beloved Jets in Miami on Sunday. I thought I was in for a perfect football weekend with wins by RU, Army and the J-E-T-S. Instead at 3:00 AM i'm watching them throw away any chance of having meaningful games this season.
