There were 77 seconds and we're at our own 11. With only one timeout left.
And we actually have turned the ball over a couple times and been sloppy. Do we want to risk that deep in our own end? I think risk/reward in that scenario says sit on it and take the lead into the lockerroom.

Very solid enjoyable half to watch...look like a real team for the first time in Ash era...yes Illinois sucks but obviously the switch to Gio was needed and is producing. Need to close it out and clean up those stupid penalties. A win today goes a long way to this team believing it can win next week

It's the smart play your at your 11 for pete's sake. Anything stupid could lead directly to a TD for them. Get into the half and scream at your RB's
It would be one thing if we had a legitimate 2 min drill. (hint, we don't) But right now it's pretty obvious we're a running team, and you ain't gonna run your way into the end zone in 1 1/2 mins from your own 10. Just take a knee save it for the second half.

At the earliest possible opportunity they will be getting the Performer / Professional lecture - Performer can do dazzling things - Professional can dazzle - while taking care of every last detail - like HOLDING ON TO THE BALL!!

No one here think that the rushing and blocking success might have something to do with the defense having to account for a mobile QB???

Look for them to blitz more in the 2nd half they know they can't play it straight up. Washington coming back could be huge. Kill should be ready with some schemes to beat the blitz.

if gio sparks the offense and they manage to win a few games the remainder of the year...and make others competative. Ash-will
1. look like he made a good choice but also 2. Be criticized for taking so long when the offense was generating nothing (especially given how gio came in last year and kinda added a spark plug)

Its crazy that Illinois is starting 4 freshman on their OL, a freshman RB, and of course a Soph QB

Well there's a fine line between itchy trigger finger and being too stubborn.

Nice interception, but blitz designs are not innovative, just plain stupid. It should be 1st guy acts like a blocker 2nd guy runs through clean hole. Ours is 1st guy runs left through hole stops by Oline, second guy runs right through hole stops by Oline.

21 in a half against a non FBS team ?Must be a flashback to the early part of this century. I still fear rhe 2nd half reaper.

Rutgers lucky break on defense. They need to pressure the quarterback. Are the linebackers capable of blitzing
? Do they have the speed?
