Non challenge was on him. You know Gardy is going to bunt, Frazier is a smart player, why pinch run?
Also thought CC was in command, low pinch count and tired pen from the WC game, would have let CC go another inning.
Of course hind sight is 20-20

I'm glad you "love Girardi." I can't stand this robot of a human being. He can take his "binder" and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. He truly is one of the most non-instinctive managers in the game. Not challenging that call when you get two challenges plus the umpires automatically will challenge anything themselves after the 7th inning is the most disgraceful acts of recklessness I've seen out of Girardi, and this man to me makes the most boneheaded decisions I've ever seen during the regular season. He's the only manager I know, that will rest players after they've been hot which DOES ruin their rhythm. Every year he pulls that **** which leads to lengthy losing streaks.

He's full of **** when he says he "didn't challenge because he didn't want to ruin Chad Green's rhythm." Really Joe? You do it all the time. And the Yankee catchers break up the pitchers' rhythm all of the time too. Then during the year he _cks around with the lineup every game so the players don't have anything consistent to go by. He's a freakin' robot with no instincts.

Tonight CC was cruising. He had just gotten 12 out of 13 batters out. He had only thrown 77 pitches. Anyone with half a brain could see CC was "on" tonight. But not dear ol' Joe. No, his binder says, "I must take out CC after 5 1/3 innings no matter what because he tires." MORON!

Then, when he does bring in Green anyone who follows the Yankees like I do knew Green did not have it tonight. He had pitched a lot of innings in the Wildcard game and was tiring. Yet our genius Joe kept him in there even though it was obvious Green did not have his best explosive fastball. That's why light hitting hitters were able to foul off his fastballs not once but three times. Before Chisenhall even got up he should have brought Robertson in.

Now, the biggest and dumbest move of all, was NOT challenging that call even when your own catcher is imploring you to do so. And then after it clearly showed it hit the knob of the bat and Sanchez caught it, Chisenhall would have struck out, and the game would have stayed at 8-3. No, Mr. Micomanger, Mr. Tightly-wound didn't see the need to challenge that play and then in the post report rather than manning up and saying "I screwed up, " he had the audacity to try to make lame excuses for his total brain fart. Bottom line: he needs to be fired. He should have been fired five years ago. I can't stand this clown.

I don't think You can bring Girardi back after that game. He was awful and it is tough to be awful managing a baseball game.

Girardi is incapable of making a quick and decisive decision. He's good at organization. He's good at planning ahead, but he has always lacked instinct. That was Torre's forte and he won with that even though on certain occasions he too failed. The 2003 WS of course comes to mind as does the meltdown of 2004. But what has Girardi accomplished in ten years? One championship in 2009? That team was so loaded and with many of the players in their prime a chimpanzee could have managed that team and still would have won.

It's time for Mr. binder to take a hike.

Girardi made a lot of bad decisions yesterday but putting in pinch runner who subsequently got picked off is not one of them. That was on the player.

Exactly, you don't need great speed at second on a sacrifice bunt. Wait for the result before pinch-running. Keep your better player in the game as long as you can. Girardi is too busy looking at his four thousand books of statistics to pay attention to real baseball things.

Girardi, Cashman and Cone should quit baseball and open up an actuarial firm.

What's the consequence of challenging and getting it wrong? No brainer to challenge if no penalty... the excuse of wanting to keep the pitchers rythymn was lame a.f.

Girardi is land always has been a terrible coach he's just had great players to hide all his STUPID decisions. I've never seen a coach that over thinks and complicates a simple game more than him

I loved him as a catcher but IF hate him

That doesn't make sense. He was the one who put the guy in who got picked off. And by the way, "swing at everything" Torreyes is a crappy player.

Fans calling WFAN last night were apoplectic. I thought one would have a stroke complaining about how the statistical stuff is killing baseball - said Girardi pulled CC after 5.5 innings because that's what his binder told him to do.

Girardi made poor decisions but the players are equally at fault. The relief pitchers gave up 6 runs and the batters didn't score again after they had a 8-3 lead.It was one of the worse losses of the season and probably in the history of post season play.

But it never would have come to that if he challenged the play. That's FOUR runs right off the board. and then you get a fresh Robertson to pitch the seventh. Then Kainhle the eighth or Dellin and Chapman the ninth. Sorry, but that's ALL on Girardi.

See.....for me that just made the whole not challenging thing worse. I'm not an expert like Joe Girardi but I have been watching the Yankees all year and it was obvious to me that Green did not have his usual great stuff. He wasn't throwing the ball past anyone. Yet Girardi left him in after he "hit" the #9 hitter to face Lindor. That was almost as bad a decision as not challenging the "hit" batter.

i agree 100%, also i would like to mention how he doesn't help
catchers like Sanchez and Posada he refused to help Posada
when he was young because he was afraid of losing his job,
the truth is he was brought in to develop Jorge not try to bury him.
Then when he became manager he insulted Jorge many times.
He is by far the worst manager I have ever seen and I have been
watching the Yankees since TV was invented and the first games
were aired. I'm sick of him resting a pitcher the day before an off day.
or resting a player the last day before all star break, or taking a pitcher
who just struck out the side, or not taking out a pitcher that just loaded
the bases, because the ace that could come in needs an extra day rest. or resting a batter that hit in 10 straight games and is really going
strong. Or using a one win pitcher for the first game of the playoffs
because one of the aces might not duplicate the shut out he had
his last game. He blew at least 10 games this year, any decent manager would have won the division easily. Every thing about this
guy sucks. Remember last year when he batted Texiera clean up
hitting 190 all year or Aroid hitting 200 batting 3rd all year. This year
he is batting 2nd the greatest home run hitting rookie in the history of
the game. This guy does not have a clue.

His gosh dern binder tells him next Thursday he should this pitcher
in the 6th inning, this one in the 7th, this one in the eighth. Instead of
waiting for the game to play out and matching up lefties and righties,
or this pitcher always strikes out the next batter, or this pitcher
can't get this guy out this guy is hot and this one not. No the friggin idiot already know what pitcher is pitching the 8th inning the first Tuesday of next month. He is the
most stubborn numbskull I have ever seen manage a baseball club.
He said he will take out a pitcher in the first inning because it is now
important to win games. WTF it wasn't important the other 162 games? Excuse me I have to puke.

In all likelihood he's lost the team at this point.

Now Tanaka and Severino can pitch back to back gems and things could change, but if they play flat and lose tmrw Joe is done.

Agree. But where was the rest of the Yankee organization watching the replay on TV and chirping in Girardis ear to make the challenge request ? I don't get it. It's also on the rest of the organization as well.

You actually think that the nucleus of the Yankees from 1996-2001 juiced? Are you high? You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. Yes, Giambi juiced. Yes later on A-Rod juiced, but if you think Jeter, Williams, Mo, O'Neill, Posada, Cone, Pettitte (yes, I know he juiced later one when he worked out with the slimeball Clemons) you are so wrong. I'm sure the team you root for was the ONLY team in MLB that didn't juice. If you believe that, I have ocean front property to sell you in Nebraska.

My Nationals don't juice!!!

I apologize if it came off as a dig at the Yankees. I am impressed that guys like Clemens, Pettite, Mariano and Jeetz did what they needed to win with little regard for long term health and ball shrinkage.

Obviously, not challenging that call was just plain dumb.

On the other hand, and I'm not defending Joe, but it would have been nice if Chad Greene simply got the next batter out instead of giving up a home run.
