I checked out this kids huddle film. He throws a really nice ball and seems to be a legitimate threat to run the ball. Top 10 NJ ranking is nice as well from a perception standpoint. Do we think he can be a leader for the 2019 class? Has anyone seen him play and can shed more light on the type of player that he is?

Huge Commit for 2019.
A Top 10 NJ recruit is vital to building our program.
Hope this brings more NJ top tier recruits.

Gotta be honest, Ash won't make it and kid will open his recruitment or, he'll do that as the losses mount

Ash won't make what? The kid committed the same weekend Ohio State beat us 56-0. There is zero chance Ash isn't our head coach next year barring some scandal.

Funny...

If you followed any of the hurricane threads you'll recall that when there's a lot of model divergence with regard to track some experts tend to rely upon climatology. In other words, they look at what similar storms have done, historically, from a point at or near where the current storm is. The idea is to suggest that in the absence of any degree of certainty the historical trends are a better bet than just flipping a coin.

Recruiting climatology does not paint a glowing picture with regard to early flagship commits.

Jesus Christ. Kid is a junior in HS and you're already calling him bridgewater? What happened to Lewis?

Haha this tends to be how the recruiting cycle flows around here. People expect a 3* stocky black QB to be Cardale Jones and then give up when he is not great as a true freshman. A skinny 3* black QB? Well he's got Teddy Bridgewater written all over him! Totally ignoring the fact that Teddy Bridgewater was a top 120 player in the nation, graduating from a powerhouse football high school in a powerhouse football city.

Was Bridgewater Bridgewater as a junior in HS? All over college football and sports in-general you have fans calling kids "the next...".

On this board, this season, you had such a thread about Aaron Judge as "the next Babe Ruth"... 54 HRs.. close enough?

He needs to keep his word.
---
it is great he verballed so early, but if he is as good as some think we will have to
survive other big 10 schools moving on him.....no program is going to respect the
verbal....none.....they will all think that if they can get in the front door, they have a good
shot.

I too, will be concerned up to his signing day..... any 5.7 verbal (eg) we have for 2018, we also must protect as best we can

I long for the day when the answer at the QB position is on the roster and starting games after being tutored and developed into a good player by an experienced and accomplished OC, instead of someone who's a Jr. In HS or currently riding the bench. Sprinkling fairy dust on guys who are 2 years from playing in a college game isn't going to produce a better team.

A highly rated QB will always be a leader, especially with in state recruits.

It's style of play/body type more then ability level. I think both comparisons are pretty apt. Lewis-Tebow, as a style of play comparison/body type, is pretty solid too, is one I have seen fairly often, and also disregards color of skin. I think Winston-Rothlisberger is another that meets all 3 of those criteria.

I can see the NCAA coming up with some ' point shaving ' allegations that we are trying too hard and the scores should be higher. Starting with the FG that hit the upright.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rutgers class of 2019 QB commit Zamar Wise of Barringer High School had a decent season, despite playing for a squad that was not laden with talent. Wise showed tremendous athleticism and versatility in the second to last game of the season when he switched to wide receiver, hauling in nine catches for 174 yards and scoring three touchdowns."

I don't follow recruiting at all really.
Has he played alot of WR?
Is he possibly being recruited as a WR instead of QB?
Or was this a one time occurrence due to other injuries or something?

From what little I've seen, I like him as a QB, but It's an interesting option. Especially if Lewis and/or Sitkowski turn into players, and we then get another good QB recruit for 2020.

He was invited to the Army All America game. He has blue chip recruit written all over him.
