Doesn't anyone find it a little odd that a kid can show up for a couple of months and be elected captain by a group of kids who spent all of last year together?
Not if the player elected captain isn't a "kid" but a 21 year old college graduate who didn't act like a kid and immediately commanded respect. Don't know if anything I wrote after "graduate" is true but if it is that would resolve any oddities
I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but coaches have rigged elections for captains before to get the guy they want.
I'm sure he's a great teammate. Seems like a nice guy in interviews. He showed up early put in work, we were excited to get a new QB. A lot of people thought he would be good. Bottom line is he's terrible. He would've been the third string QB at Louisville. He's going to throw 20 interceptions. Think about that for a second.
It's simple politics. Bolin is Ash's guy and will play till Lewis is ready. Just like the Zach Allen & Odin experiment last season. Gio should consider transfer for his 5th year. He won't start again unless it's due to injury.
This is the way I see it as well.
Gio is not a QB that Ash wants to play. Gio played last season out of necessity.
I think that Gio was terrible for RU last season. I don't understand the platitudes I read about his QB skills on this board. He is the consummate backup QB that is praised when he doesn't play.
Plus that fact he came in as the backup to last year's Heisman trophy winner Lamar Jackson. I'm sure he got some cool points from his new team mates for that in itself.
It is what it is: let the commencement of the Jonathan Lewis era begin in the 2nd half of OSU game.

Bolin isn't playing better than Gio did. That's a fact. It's not even debatable.
With this weak OL and noshow WRs I would go with Gio to grind some yards on the ground and open up some more passing routes- since these recievers cannot get any separation. He looked good against the gophers last year.

The Roster shows Gio is 22. And I can remember last year an article on nj.com mentioning Gio cutting his teammates hair. Things that make u go hmmmmmmm!?
I get that some of you think there's some conspiracy here where Ash really picked the team captains. Maybe he did. But the idea that a team would vote the third string QB (Gio) a captain is a little much.
