Knowing this board someone will claim the administration forgot the Block R if it isn't painted the same day the turf installation is finished and that will lead to at least 25 posts back and forth.

Worse, it's named after a brand of ketchup!

As God as my witness I really thought we were going for the old Stanford Stadium look...I consider E5 who was King of the Gaps a buddy. Great guy but yeah it was funny.
Good. Exorcise the demons of 78-0 and throw them in the trash.
Also, this is linked with rebuilding our press box, which is considered archaic by every journalist that uses it.
all this money wasted on field turf when we could have the castle & deathstar 1/2 built by now!
squandered opportunity....

In the upper deck by the zipline landing padAlways got a kick out of this pic. Where are the wooden horses?
The main reason I call BS on this line of thinking is the Heitz Field is natural grass and holds 15 home football games, concerts, High School football and other events. There are several stadiums that do this.
Drainage technology has changed significantly in 20 years and if a drainage system was installed there would be no issue with a natural surface. Regardless of field level.
Astro-Turf went into action in 1966 at the Houston Astrodome. When and who did Rutgers play its first game on artificial turf with?

When was our last game on AstroTurf? I'm guessing cuse in '04 (Carrier dome didn't go to FieldTurf till '05). My trivia question- who did we beat in our last win on AstroTurf and where/ when did the game take place? Joe P.
November 9, 2007
Rutgers 41 Army 6
West Point, NY
Michie Stadium -
AstroPlay (used 2001-07, successor to Astro Turf)
Solid answer though AstroPlay is still a 'new generation' turn product; it was Southwest Industries answer to FieldTurf. I was talking about the 'standard' carpet-pile turf product. Joe P.
Oh. So you mean the last Rutgers victory on the "original" product Astroturf?
Yes sir- the 'original' AstroTurf (or similar product). Joe P.
Well, then ya got me. I'm not up on my similar products to AstroTurf. Just a guess but:
October 17, 1998
Rutgers 25 Pittsburgh 21
Pittsburgh, PA
Pitt Stadium - AstroTurf (1970-1983 and 1990-1999)
Lol remember it well funny stuffThe "gap" is the all-time best, never to be beat.

Because the masters is a money making machine....very few members, not a ot of play and 100% made for TV course. As an FYI the Masters has its little tricks too. The entrance onto the course that goes thru a valley in the fairway between tee and green is artificial turf. The Masters image is everythingThey should use grass. Why is it that at Masters they can drain the entire course after a major storm but it is not possible to do that on a football field.
Bring back natural grass. I want to see grass on helmets, uniforms, shoes, etc.
Absolutely correct and as usual, right on the money. Joe P.
I can never seem to find this "money" wherever I'm "right." Must be doing something wrong.
Okay, so here's one back at you. What was the last Rutgers football victory on a 100% natural surface (i.e. grass)?
Off the top of my head I'd say @Temple 2012 (35-10). We also won @USF that year (though it was earlier in the year) and won 2 games at Yankee Stadium in '11 on grass. Joe P.
You're close with Temple. But Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia is made up of "Desso GrassMaster" which is a grass/artificial fibers combo, so not 100% grass only.
However, you're correct on the September 15, 2012 game:
Rutgers 23 South Florida 13 Tampa, FL
Raymond James Stadium
Surface: Tifway 419 Bermuda (essentially fancy crab grass)
