Great story and some nice highlights from his Pro season aboard.

After a year away from organized basketball as he navigated his post-graduate life, Mack landed in Europe with Horsens (Denmark) IC. After earning first team all-league and defensive player of the year in the Danish Basketball League, Mack inked a new deal with Turów Zgorzelec (Poland) in the Polish League.


Mack averaged 16.5 points, 4.8 assists per game and 3.3 rebounds per game over the course of his first year in pro ball with Horsens IC.

If you are not an NBA player, it's worthwhile at any stage of your career if you can manage to play 10-12 years.

In Europe, most players make a starting salary between $65,000 and $100,000..............often untaxed. Many teams provide accommodations for players, including an apartment and a car.

$65,000 - $100,000 untaxed, apartment and car. That's a pretty good deal. Keep in mind, these are only the salaries starting out.

And I would imagine they get pretty good benefits, i.e, medical, etc., in some of those socialized countries.

If he is a US citizen there is no such thing as "untaxed". Every penny you make anywhere in the world is taxed.

Myles told me Saturday that his goal is to eventually play in the top league in Germany.

His signing a new deal to play in Poland is a step up in comp and pay, and his new league regularly feeds guys into where he wants to be.

Such a good kid...Hope he gets everything he desires out of his career

I think most of these contracts have the club playing the tax. The quoted contract is for the after-tax paycheck. If you are given free housing, car, health insurance, etc, then a $100k paycheck goes pretty far.
