I mean you do know that over a full season last year Conforto was awful so he may also just be off to a hot start. I don't want to kill conforto though. I like him. He has very good potential. I think he is a safer choice than Judge. He just doesn't have judges or Sanchez ceiling. But again he is a very good prospect.
Conforto played part of year last yr not full, injury and was sent to aaa to fix a loop in his swing that was corrected. In the prior season he was called up late and led Mets to World Series. He is more than a prospect, he is here to stay.

Can we make a rule that Mut fans can't post in a Yankee related thread until their embarrassment of a franchise reaches the .500 mark?

I know, yanks are champs of the first month. See you soon in the subway series.

Historically, its the Mets that get off to a fast start filling their fans with the hopes of post season play only to crash come summertime.

Regardless, the Mets have expectations of post season play this year, based on last year's run; the Yankees were not supposed to be contenders at all. I'll take the Yankees start over where the Mets are. Coming into the season, the Yankees rotation had (still has) question marks; due to injuries, I'd say the Mets are going to have difficulties counting on one of their pre-season strengths.

Thanks, Captain Obvious. Don't know why Mets fans are in here jawing. Yankees have had a near flawless start. Mets are in a death spiral with injuries, the latest of which being Cabrera. Mets have worst starting pitching ERA in the Major Leagues. Nobody, even fans that hate the Mets would have predicted that. Will they get it fixed? I'm not optimistic with Terr Collins and Sandy Alderson in charge.

Nobody told me you were funny . . . . now I know why.

I was only responding to those Met fans that feel the need to talk crap on this thread; thought truthfully, trash talk right now is not a Mets' fans best course of action.

Disagree on your first thought-- you should see my stand up routine.
Totally agree on the second one. Nobody could have predicted what ad debacle this season has become. The only glimmer of hope is a strong run later in the summer and early fall with Cespedes, Thor, and a couple of others back.

Judges at bats were awesome last night. Working the count. Just ripping line drives. Taking what the pitcher is giving him. I am loving the this season but in two years this team will be insane.

Gleybar Torres with a game winning homerun in AAA. Can you say stud? Dexter Fowler having a great year too. How about this for for a middle of the order;

Torres
Harper
Sanchez
Judge
Castro

The future is bright.

So much for Vargas (a.k.a., the best pitcher in baseball so far this season).

He had given up 1 HR and 5 ER in 44.2 innings this season coming into tonight. The Yanks doubled those totals in 5 innings. They're starting to cruise again. Would not be surprised to see another long win streak.

How the Hell do the Met Fans hijack this thread? They have there own, why are they not on that posting? They need to be treated like the PSU fans and just ignores.

Now on to the Yankees. They are lighting up KC again tonight. Are they the best team in baseball no, but they are playing the best right now. It's going to be a fun year to watch.

The Mets haven't won anything since 1986 (31 years). Conforto is doing well but I would take Judge or Sanchez any day of the week. Met fans thought they were the best team in baseball before the season and they just went 0-6 on their road trip. Every day it seems like they lose another pitcher. Maybe there is something wrong with their training?

.

I think it's 'cause they miss me from their mets thread. They miss a realistic perspective and good insight into what's really happening in MLB.
You gotta realize these mets fans were expecting to dominate with their "5 twenty-game winners" rotation. They weren't expecting winless road trips.
And the Yankees are one of the best teams in MLB thus far, with quite a few young exciting players.
It's a great time to be a Yankees fan. A mets fan not so much.

Yankees going for the sweep tonight in Kansas City. Game is on FS1 and Arod will be in the booth doing color analysis. Orioles already lost so they can take a 2.5 game lead in the division. Go Yanks.

Going into today, taking this seasons records into account, the Yankees have played the toughest schedule of anyone in baseball. They've had some pretty significant injuries and are in 1st place. I give most of the credit for this season to Brian Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner. Cashman has made 3 lopsided trades that are paying huge dividends this season (Hicks, Pineda, Castro). Also you can include the original Chapman trade that brought him to the Yankees for the first time from the Reds. They barely gave up anything and then turned Chapman into Gleyber Torres (who is starting to rake in AA as a 20 year old) at the deadline only to resign him for this season. And I give Steinbrenner credit, because he gave Cashman the OK to sell at last years deadline. Now, none of the guys they got in those deals have made an impact at the major league level yet but you better believe it caused some of the Yankee veterans to look over their shoulder. It's created a healthy competition and instilled some fire in the veteran players to get their job done, because the kids are on the way. It's an exciting time to be a Yankee fan.

Tanaka what a pitcher? ERA 6.56.

He's had two awful outings in a row. It is troubling.
But he also has 5 wins after one quarter of the season. That pace will make him a 20-game winner for the season.

What do you think Judge's ceiling is?

Wins? Seriously? Who still cares about wins for starting pitchers?
He's had 9 starts so far.
2 good
3 awful
4 mediocre

Sorry, we must be talking about two different things. IMO wins are the only thing.
As I said, Tanaka has gotten pounded the last two starts. And that has inflated what already was an unimpressive ERA. But if he can finish the season with 15 more wins for a total of 20 I'm betting the Yankees will be pleased. Yankees bats and bullpen will help him out.

Tanaka's tanking of recently will truly make it a difficult decision for him to opt out next year if it continues. I gues it all depends upon the root cause. I'd be considering checking out his elbow again, just in case he's hiding something.

judges ceiling is is sky's the limit. But he will probably be a .280 hitter with 30-35 homers a season.

While the last few games have been disappointing the good news is the play of Judge and Sanchez. This season is still about the future. Playing winning baseball is just icing on the cake. We need to bring up Torres to play third in a few weeks. Unless we trade for a top line pitcher we don't have the starting pitching to win. But we knew that coming in.

I don't think you see Torres until next year. That is, unless they are not competitive anymore and can find a buyer for Headley. Good luck with that.

I'd be pretty surprised if Torres made it up this year. He's really locked in at the plate right now, but hitting is not the only part of the game. Baserunning and defense still aren't major league ready. Also he was just benched the other day for not hustling.

Hard to do much worse than Headley defensively. I can't speak to how he is running the bases in the minors (I know he got taken out for not running hard) but his base running in preseason was great. Bringing up Torres will have a lot to do with how Headley plays over the next four weeks. If we decide to go for this thing you can't ignore his offense and how much it could help us. I can't speak to his defense at third in the minors either. Haven't seen him.

I agree.
If Sabathia, Tanaka, Pineda, Severino, and Montgomery can give this team mostly quality starts, the Yankees will win a lot of games and compete with the best teams.
And I've been begging for a replacement at third base for over a year now. Every time Headley throws to first I cringe.
Hopefully this losing streak is just a bump in the road.
