He's really been incredible. Obviously the HR's are great but I get just as giddy when he's patient and works a walk. Shows how far he has come.

Let's take these next 2 and head to Chicago with a series win. Tanaka on the mound tonight coming off a shutout. The bats are going to wake up again tonight.

Good call. The Bronx Bombers are back. Judge looking good.
Now if we can only get Sanchez back and Bird contributing, this lineup is gonna be a real challenge for anybody.

Aaron Hicks is quietly playing great ball. I love our depth which has already been tested this year quite a bit.

The DL was also a smart move for Bird. Gives him more time off the ankle and they can give him at-bats in AAA without technically demoting him.

Another good offensive performance for the Yanks. However, the starting pitching has been shaky the past week or so. Off day tomorrow then it's on to Wrigley Field. Gary Sanchez will be behind the plate for the series opener on Friday. Welcome back, Gary!

Sanchez's bat should be a nice addition to an already productive offense.
And yes....starting pitching has been a problem lately for the 1st place Yankees.
When is Eovaldi coming back ?

Eovaldi got cut after he got hurt. He's out the whole year I think.

Judge is unbelievable. He's the Sanchez of 2017 so far. Hopefully Sanchez can pick up where he left off next year.

We still need starting pitching. I think they will dangle the redhead for Quintana at the trading deadline depending upon what his stats look like around then. He just pitched a great game and his stats are trending down.

Top of the 9th, Yanks trailing 2-0, 2 on, 2 out, 2 strikes on the batter, Cubs fans standing and cheering. The pitch. Gardner swings and hits it deep right, its gone. Chapman closes it out for 3-2 Yankee win.

Stupid question. What do you guys think of getting Minnesota lefty Hector Santiago? He may not be the the Kershaw Supestar. But He's the hometown kid (Newark) who is as solid lefty starter as you can get:
39-39 Lifetime
3-1 in 2017
13-10 in 2016 but 10-4 with the Angels before the trade to Minnesota.

Plus he probably won't cost you as much as other pitchers.

I still swear that the Mets should've gotten him last year because hes better than Matz. Just my opinion.

I honestly didn't know much about him, but here's what I learned:

- last year of a contract, 8 million, pitching well in his walk year
- decent career ERA but a high WHIP, last 3 years his ERA was above league average
- this year he is playing really well, averaging about 6 innings a start

I still like Quintana due to his team control and his proven ability. I think the variable that is always the most important is "can they pitch in NY?" We've seen so many people come in with stacked resumes and instantly flame out while others who are average players (Paul O'Neill?) become huge stars in the city. How do you figure that out? I have no idea.

All I know is that he would look pretty good in Queens right now, esp better than Matz, Montero. But I would think that he would fit in the Bronx as a lefty. He also throws a decent screwball. Like I said, he's not Kershaw or Bumgardner. But the Yanks (or Mets) could do worse and won't cost as much.

Gardy!!! What a freakin' wi n!!!

Gardner rewarded all of those Yankees fans sitting out there at Wrigley in that cold for 8 2/3 innings watching blown opportunity after blown opportunity.
Cubs fans weren't so happy.
Great time to be a Yankees fan.

I agree with that. He has beast potential in a national league park.

I fully expect to see Matt Holliday at 1B today for the Yanks. I'd be surprised if the Yankees didn't win this one today.

Or you know...they're just a very well constructed team with a great mix of young players and veterans, a potent offense, solid starting pitching, and a dominant back end of the bullpen.

Just heard on the radio Yank RPs have given up 8 ERs and 36 hits in 60+ innings. That's close to a 1.20 ERA. You're going to win your share of games with stats like that.

Nah....strictly a DH going forward.
We managed tonight without his bat in the lineup.

I assume you meant to quote my Holliday post. Girardi said he will play 1B at some point on this 5 game interleague road trip. I thought it was gunna be last night but Girardi said that he's going to play 1B tonight.

Sorry....yeah.
They have been saying over and over on the broadcasts that Holliday did not play one single inning in the field in Spring training and would not be playing in the field this season.
I hope they're wrong.

Holliday batting 3rd and playing 1B tonight. Ellsbury in the lineup. Gardner and Sanchez not in the lineup.

Wow I finally fell asleep in the 17th and turned it off in the 18th. Guess I should have waited a little longer.

I fell asleep in the 10th with TV on and woke up in the 17th. Great to get that sweep. First place, best record in baseball. Couldn't have dreamt of this great start. Fun to watch!!

What are the odds of Clippard, Warren, Holder and Shreve giving you 9+ scoreless innings at Wrigley?
