How about the athlete who cannot make it into a D1 program but decides to go to junior college instead of working for Amazon? How about when he finds out that he is guaranteed to be accepted into a four year New Jersey state college if he maintains a certain grade point average? How about graduating from that four year college with a lot less debt? $$$$
Why not go to a junior college who doesn't charge you $4,000 to play? If he has the potential to play D1 football but not the grades there are plenty of places that will take them. I have no problem with kids going to community or junior college. What I have a problem with is people filling their heads that they are going to get a college scholarship while charging them to play where if they were really that good there are plenty of kicks they could go to and play for free.

That was my point from the get go. It was you that said it does not count and it was nothing more than recreation. If they are playing NCAA JV teams. NJCAA (JUCO) and post grad prep teams there will be additional compliance and eligibility issues. Gattaca is not exactly a good example. They were an epic failure due to the exact logistical nightmares I discussed. They couldn't finish a season and had multiple students evicted from their apartments due tonon payment.
There no compliance or eligibility. They are not joining any of those leagues. If they were they would not be playing a hodgepodge of schools. They will make their own standards and their own rules.

This seems like the young adult version the 'travel ball' dream- 'Hey, want a college scholarship/ play in the NFL but they didn't find you yet? Join our team!! ...for the low low price of $4,000 plus daily travel expenses plus whatever you're paying to attend school...'

I remember reading an article series on a HS travel baseball team in NJ a few years back. It cost something like $1200/ year with a promise of X amount of playing time/ showcase tournaments, etc. IIRC they followed the team for about a year or 2 and during that time, 1 kid got a partial 'ship to a D-II and another got a junior college full ride. I honestly thought both of them could have probably played HS/ summer Legion ball and accomplished the same things.

As I read the posts, look at the one team that has alumni, and rethink:
- the team that has alumni has only sent 1 or 2 to a P5 program (1 being Kentucky which is not a powerhouse in football)
- those with scholarships seem to be at the FCS level and maybe Div 2/3 levels

This may be more for kids that:
- grades didn't qualify them for a scholarship at most schools so need Juco (these are the kids they tend to allude to when they discuss schollies). Grades are an issue so they would need to prep for a year regardless. It is a way to not let their skills get rusty while bringing their grades up. These kids are probably better off at a Juco powerhouse with a history of sending kids to FBS schools.
- not the best grades and were only ok players so they are not FBS quality and many Div 2 / 3 schools wouldn't accept them because of grades / SAT scores. Maybe they were County Honorable mentions. With hard work they may develop into a scholarship player.
- Kids that are not scholarship quality for FBS or FCS. They probably could play at the Div 2/3 level which would mean paying their way since they probably are not scholarship schools. They probably could walk on as a practice squad player paying their own way to an expensive FBS / FCS college. They are choosing to do a County college for 2 years and then transfer to Rutgers or another 4 year state school. This lets them play and be seen by coaches so they can be a preferred walk on for their 3rd year of college. It may lead to a partial schollie at an FCS school if they don't develop into FBS quality.
- Kids that were County college bound from day 1 and played some ball in HS. They didn't take HS as serious as they should so grades and SATs were not great.Maybe they are looking to get a degree in a trade. They were not a star and not recruited but loved to play and want to continue to play. It is like a Club team at Rutgers for them.

There absolutely are compliance and eligibility requirements if they want to be viewed as a legitimate option for students to attend and a place for colleges to recruit. Says right on their website that you must be enrolled in a junior college in NJ. They are representing themselves more than just a All star team or a showcase tournament team.

There is no compliance and eligibility. They aren't affiliated with any school or NCAA. This is the same exact thing as Gattaca.

If they want to be viewed as a legitimate option there needs to be. Gattaca represented themselves as having an affiliation to Mercer County. Gattaca was an absolute failure. If there are no eligibility requirements than why do you have tyo be enrolled in a NJ community college?

Because they want to hold themselves out like that to get fools to give them 4k. However, they aren't part of the NJCAA so it doesn't matter.

My point is there no one to enforce it. They have no governing body to answer or oversee. They probably won't be allowed to even verify enrollment directly with the school due to privacy laws. It would be no different then if tomorrow I decided I want to start a football team and the requirement is you must go to Rutgers.
