I said the same thing

If you look at the offensive lineman combine results, most guys were in the 21-24 range. He was slightly below average. So I wouldn't be knocking him so much, no reason for that. There were quite a few guys at the combines in the teens. Muller killed it today. He earned at least a PFA spot.

Some guys with longer arms struggle on bench. A bad bench doesn't necessarily mean you're weak. You're correct, the average was around 21-24 range. Denman wouldn't have been the worst at the combine. Muller's bench was just extremely good. His 40 was good too. I agree that he did well too. Patton and Muller both did really well. It's a shame Hamilton couldn't' participate.

Muller's pro day was outstanding. If Muller was invited to the NFL combine, he would've been one of the top performers there. His 20 yard shuttle was average, everything else was excellent. He had a monster day and probably earned himself a camp invite if not a late round draft pick.

Muller would've been:
#5 - 40 yard dash
#2 - Bench Press
#7 - Vertical Jump
#5 - Broad Jump
#1 - 3 Cone Drill
#20 - 20 yard shuttle

I recall Mike Fladell (6" 5" 324) only did 23 reps when Ron Girault (5'10" 204) did 25. Fair amount of long-armed big men dont bench gaudy numbers. Some of those that do aren't always great players. Muller's Washington certainly tape would scare me away. Husky DT ***-grassed him like he was a scarecrow

To be fair, that Husky DT was throwing around 'Bama OL like rag dolls too...

I think Muller helped himself a lot. Dennman was a little low on the press but not fare from normal but he is a guy that needed far from normal, but on the plus side. I don't get caught up on the 40 times for the big guys though. Did Dennman take all of his tries at the 40?

Setting aside the back to reality 40 time, what's with Cioffi's vertical.

CIoffi's not this explosive athlete that everyone thinks he is. He was a decent college player who was really put out there early because our entire secondary was arrested. He played with heart and passion but I don't see an NFL player whatsoever. Some people are saying that he can just switch to Wide Receiver like he's Julian Edelman or Braxton Miller. He's not that type of athlete. I think as far as he gets is Rookie Mini-Camp.

Not that I disagree with your assessment of his skills, but the arrests occurred during his junior year and he was already a key part of the secondary. He played as a freshman and contributed some big plays in his career (my favorite being when he came around the end and blew up Teddy Bridgewater). He was key in some bigs wins (@ WSH). But he definitely had his down moments, especially last year. One thing I will say is the kid got yanked all over the secondary, being plugged in wherever we needed him and did his best. You're probably right where he'll land but I really hope he ascends higher than that.

I was incorrect about the arrests. I think Patton had a performance like Marcus Cooper. At Rutgers' pro day, Cooper ran the 40-yard dash in 4.45 and 4.46 seconds. He had a 39 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-9 broad jump. He ran the short shuttle in 4.42 seconds and the three-cone drill in 6.89 seconds. He performed 20 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press. Marcus Cooper didn't do anything at Rutgers but was actually drafted based on his Pro Day. I think Cioffi needed that type of performance at Pro Day.

Muller's performance makes me wonder what could have been with the O-line last year. As we know the offense was a pure sh%t show and it dragged the O-line down with it which was supposed to be a strength going in. I mostly blame our former OC but Blazek obviously has some learning to do. Hopefully Kill can provide that experience and mentors Blazek (though love him as a recruiter).

Muller could be one of those guys who does nothing at Rutgers but plays in the NFL. There's been a bunch of those guys.

(my favorite being when he came around the end and blew up Teddy Bridgewater) . . . .
I was never impressed by the handful of key moments he had. The moments were good. The plays not so much. For instance, on this Bridgewater play, Cioffi was left wholly unblocked on a blitz and had a short uninterrupted route straight at Bridgewater. Just as important, it was from the blindside and Bridgewater never saw him coming. Cioffi ran at an unaware guy from behind and knocked him down. Juxtapose that with the other plays we've seen--too many--in which the other guys actually saw Cioffi readying to ty to tackle them. Oof! The mini legend of Cioffi never made sense to me.

Elijah Qualls - he benched 33 reps at combine (6'1" 315). Noted for low center of gravity, leverage and a good punch.

Jones and Marquez put up numbers that suggest potential for the next level on STs. There might be some interest in them as UDFAs. Denman and Nelson's 40 times suggest a career path towards coaching.

Not so much of a knock against Denman as an observation. He just seemed to get overpowered a lot in game action. I wish him and all our players well.
