What do we think now about the CBI?

We are now at 15-18 and I still hope that somehow we can still play a few more games. We did win two in a row before tonight. Hopefully we can get an invite and accept it.

Looking at the quotes from players and coach after tonight, I don't think they will be interested in playing. Corey said he is flying home to Florida, guessing RU is on spring break, and Coach said it is always a sad day when we hang up the uniforms and season ends

Not getting an invite anyway. Last place team in a conference and three games under .500.
All things considered you have to be pleased, I didn't say happy, with the season. We saw growth in some players and a definite improvement not only in the coaching and style of play but in the whole attitude around the program. Let's move along, bag some recruits and look forward to more progress, even some type of post season bid, next year.

Better off concentrating on academics and getting ready for next season. We've already played a ton of games against high level competition. Those tournaments are worthless for power conference teams.

Haha no definitely not interested at all in a pay to play "tournament" that literally no one cares about. I want to earn a post season bid like everyone else but not this way especially after ending the season with our doors being blown off in the final game.

And to think that if we managed to hit free throws and win 3 more games, we would get in the NCAAs just like the prognosticators say that Syracuse will at 18-14. (Sarcasm meter)

I don't think there'd be much value in the CBI, but I wouldn't mind more RU basketball. It was fun watching this team play Mid and Low majors at the start of the year, so why not at the end? . I think it would be fun watching some more games.

Thanks for the info. The 16 teams that are in it are on line. Perhaps it is best that we declined as probably many of the players want to enjoy spring break after 33 games.

You have to put yourself in the players shoes. It is highly doubtful many players would even want to play in the NIT let alone the CBI. It is a long season. Asking players to play in a meaningless tournament without full backing from the team in counter productive.

I disagree. I think alot of players would like to play in the NIT, at least at RU, since it would mean we had a winning season (for the first time in a decade). The CBI though - no power 5 teams = whats the point.

fans YES, players would probably differ player by player. Some teams show strong performance and some lay eggs. I'd be surprised if Syracuse doesn't lay an egg.

He IS a starter. Started most games this year. :uzi:

That explains part of the reason for the 3 conference wins in the B1G.

We need to aim higher, lots higher if we want to compete with the top half of the B1G.

No offense, but players of Thiam's skills are not going to get us there. He is a hold the fort guy, at best.

Once I learned that we had to pay our way for this tourney, I figured it was a no.
