I hate penn state and Michigan but the terps fans struck a nerve last night. They were loud and obnoxious and they have no business crowding into our home court. We played very poorly last night and I think our guys are a little burned out from playing up against every opponent. There's no question you will have nights like that when the wheels come off and it's not indicative of our season. But when we beat Maryland in the next few years I plan to rub it their fans faces. Some of their fans reminded me of Syracuse with that smug attitude.

I will give you the benefit of doubt and just think you were testing us to see if Rutgers fans were awake.Opponent fans have no right crowding into our home court is laughable but sad at the same time.As a fan I concentrate on what is needed to improve Rutgers performance.Bottom line Rutgers mens basketball needs a major upgrade in talent which is the only way fans from other schools will have any respect for Rutgers.

Yes..right behind me in Sec 214 somebody gave up their season to Terp fans and it is annoying. If I were to give up my season tix for a game, I would hand over to RU fans. Its frustrating seeing Terp colors in 100's section.

My first thought going into the game was "Good Crowd" and that playing hard and close for the last couple of games brought some fans back.

But don't take it out on the Terps. We haven't had a winning season in 11 years and a winning conference record in 26 -- last time we went dancing. It finally seems like the administration is paying some attention to hoops. But with the **** that we've been given for the last 25 years, we're lucky anyone shows up. IF our fans actually had something to come to, there wouldn't be any availability for visiting fans to crowd us out.

Hopefully in a few years it changes.

I think the "Let's GOOooOOooOOoo Maryland!" chant is nearly as annoying as "U-C-O-N-N, UConn, Uconn, Uconn!". When they came to play us in football in 2007, that was like nails on a chalkboard.

How could they have no business crowding into our court, its not like our fanbase showed up. Students did, a bit late but they showed up. Our fans in the 100 section sold to Maryland fans. Why attack Maryland fans because they showed in great numbers much like they did the last time when they took it over.

What has irked me for years is that the visiting fans always seem to be right behind/around me in 214. I have never seen as many visiting fans on the other side of the court. We don't get as many visiting fans now that we are in the Big 10, but Md fans showed up last night. Ticket office: Please share the wealth and send the visiting fans to the other side of the court once in a while!

One day soon Rutgers will be good and seats will be limited. In the meantime we continue to build and improve.

Why single out 100 level fans again and again. So ******* tiresome. Like whatever season ticket holders who exist in the 200 level (and don't support the program financially like those in the 100's do) are somehow above it all and better fans. What garbage.

We're well known for being ********, but it's not the smug/self-centered/clueless type of ******* you get w Michigan or OSU. It's just passion-driven. Sorry?

While I don't like it ultimately I accept this. If Rutgers were good for many years in one of the major sports, we'd have fans on the road agressively chanting RU and annoying other fans as well.

Fair point about the 100 level seats (where I happen to sit). FWIW, most of the UM fans there last night were in the 200's. I never sell to opposing team's fans. But, having made the required $2000 donation for my 4 seats, I can't blame those who try to recoup some money by selling to the highest bidder when they can't make the game.

Grow up. We have the same problem when we play Penn State football at home.

Some of our fans complain that there are too many PSU fans. I tell them, what is there money not green enough for us? I seem to remember you guys needing the money too. Does the 10,000 B1G Build donors seem familiar?

When you start selling out the RAC, and we start selling out Byrd. Then you can complain about Maryland fans flooding your arena, and we can complain about PSU fans flooding ours.

It's better the arena/stadium is full of noise, than apathetic fans and empty seats. Have you seen Penn State's basketball arena? They CURTAIN off the upper deck. That's far sadder than what is going on at Rutgers for bball and Maryland for football.

Keep attending and get be louder than us, that's only way you build a program.

i have no issue at all with opposing fans as long as they are respectful

there was a row of MD guys in my section who were annoying and obnoxious. not quite rude, but close

that said, I won't say the entire MD fanbase is that way because every fanbase has their fair share of schmucks.

When we start winning, this problem will go away. Maryland fans won't be able to get tickets.

Money's the only way you build a program. That's how all the big boys do it and continue to stay on top. You got it and we've never had it and still don't. We play in a gym that was built in 1977 with some fresh coats of paint on it and don't even have a practice facility.

All the teams have to share, and it's going to be that way for another 2.5 yrs. if there aren't any delays. People that have money always like to forget how hard it is when you don't. It's the only reason we're in this mess in the 1st place. I wish we could get an advance on our payouts and an interest free loan but we can't and RU did try.

Including me,there were TWO Rutgers fans in my entire row. Our program has been a national laughingstock for 25 years. I don't like fans rooting for the wrong teams, but their money is still green and since we can not fill our high school gym despite being in a state with almost NINE MILLION PEOPLE, we should just accept their money and ignore them. I thought the Terps fans last night were cheering hard for their team, not mocking Rutgers like two jerks from Indiana did in my ear last time they came to The RAC.

Boy, I should consider myself lucky. Sitting behind me were three female maryland fans. No older than 25. They can sit behind me anytime. Can't post the pics as they are tucked away in the memory bank.

there really are not that many in 200 left....there are plenty of seats available for opposing fans in 200, the 100 level ones another story...why are they selling their tickets, either go to the game or give them up.

There are plenty of seats available for season ticket purchase in the 100's. Trust me. Why don't you put your money where your mouth is? Then you can complain about how others are not supporting the program to YOUR standards. You made a financial decision to not sit in a premium section. If someone who has shelled out a helluva lot more than you have can't make a 6:30 tipoff and chooses to recoup something who are you to criticize them for making a financial decision. I hate sitting near opposing fans at home but you are the wrong person to be criticizing.

I will say what I want...I have been a season ticket holder for 23 years, it doesnt matter that I do not sit in 100, its my opinion that those folks shouldnt be selling their tix to other fans...I would say the same thing in football if people were in choice seats selling them.

And who are these people that would love to buy your tickets to a Rutgers basketball game that are not fans of the visiting team? I want names.

People have lives. People have jobs. Attending 16 games is a real commitment and not everyone is a lunatic like we are and will drop everything to see a 2-14 team finish out the string when there's another game four days later. Luckily, I have the ability to work from home if I have to. If I didn't, there is no way I would be able to get from my job in the city, get home, and navigate Jersey traffic for a 6:30 tipoff.

Basketball comments can be annoying enough. But the Maryland guy behind me went off went when the promo proclaiming RU business school as number one in the northeast was airing. "Are they kidding?" "What about NYU?" "Are they even number one in NJ?" Very condescending for no reason at all.

#1 in job placement after graduation was the selling point of the ad which the guy obviously didn't pay attention to. No question our Business School graduates are the most well dressed and neatly groomed.

Don't assume the Maryland fans sitting in the good seats actually had the ticket for that seat. I saw two instances of Maryland fans sitting mid court till the real ticket holders showed. They probably had 300 level seAts a and figured they would give it a shot. If the RU fan is a no show they have great seats

Many years ago I missed a home Syracuse game. The next game a couple of regulars asked me why I sold my tickets to a bunch of obnoxious cues fans. I had not, the tickets were home unused

The RAC workers do nothing to check tickets going into the 100's. It's awful. G$$ and I are consistently surrounded by opposing fans who work their way down over the course of the game. The worst was a number of years ago. We got to the game and evicted two DePaul fans from our seats. When they announced the "lucky seat" it turned out to be G$$'s seat. He went to collect his prize and was informed that they already gave it to him. Apparently, they gave the prize away prior to the game; to the DePaul fan who happened to be sitting in his seat.

There's also the version of the ad which states that it's the top PUBLIC school MBA in the area so private schools such as NYU are excluded. Clearly people don't pay close enough attention.

Since we are talking about UMCP in this case, they could run a similar ad (and perhaps they do, not sure) claiming to be #1 public school MBA in DC metro, which would exclude Georgetown.

But their business students aren't as sharp dressers as RU's...so we got that going for us..which is nice.

I can see why someone who take offense to putting #1 and Rutgers Business school in a advertisement.

Would seem rather misleading. The Business school rankings according to USNEWS just for the B1G CIC schools:

#2 University of Chicago
#3 Northwestern
#12 Michigan
#22 Indiana
#27 Ohio State
#27 Wisconsin
#35 MSU
#39 Illinois
#41 Maryland
#41 Ped State
#45 Iowa
#47 Purdue
#53 Rutgers
NR Minnesota
NR Nebraska
NR Johns Hopkins

P.S. My friends sat court-side to the game. I don't even know where to begin on how wrong I think it is for people to be selling those.
