Baker is a different guard than WIlliams coming in. So many shots with a hand in his face. Williams was primarily an open spot shooter that could light a team up when he had space.

Williams is a huge piece on our team, and a fantastic kid.

Both have great potential and will change the team for the better. Coach will use all of his players last year in OOC, so you can bet Baker will see at least 7-10 mpg as a freshman coming in.

Baker is the one taking the majority of shots in the video.

competition does not look horrible. Its not like no defense AAU games around the tri state.

Athletic with a good handle and court vision, what's not to like? Nice stroke too, but the release point for this 3-point shot does look a little low.

A lot to like on film, but I'm a bit worried about his relatively low release point on his jumper - he may be eating basketballs too often.

In this video, he looks to release hit shot much higher (especially the last 30 secs of the video)

I noticed the same thing. Wondering if when he drives and pulls up he has a higher release versus when he is shooting from a set position. Either that or we have the wrong video lol.

I believe the video posted by the OP was from a couple years ago. But in that video, number 9 in blue, you can see his release isn't low.

True. His release is much higher in the second video.
Absolutely. Much better release point and decent elevation on his jumper, too. I like what I see, but, like any recruit, will wait to see how he does against serious college level competition.

I dont envy talent evaluators. When these kids aren't jumping out of the gym its tough to find something tangible to determine they'll develop into a great player.

I just liked the video because he was lighting it up.

He has other things that will help him at the next level besides shooting. He is a willing passer, and has long arms that Pikiell will love to have on defense.

Some people are downplaying the competition that Baker faces, but the fact that he can actually hit a shot from behind the arc shows he will help us.

The second video is the way Geo shoots now. And not only does he have an excellent release, but he grew two inches as well since the first video. Geo is now 6'4". I really like his game and I think we're going to be very happy with his play.

Ethan Happ 3 star recruit with offers from Milwaukee and Green Bay. We will improve as program from player development more than star power at this point. Hopefully some day in the future we will have th fancy toys and the winning record to attract top level recruits but right now we gotta develop guys like Baker to their fullest potential.

For sure. That's where the guard coming from JUCO will help us as well. Great periphery vision.

Seems to me that Geo's true height will be a big factor in his offensive success. If 6'4", as poster above mentioned, it helps him a lot.

This ... the low release point on the 3 will have to be reworked to be effective in college. But his release point on the several pull up jump shots looks fine.

I have noticed that Baker's release point on 3's has already improved in more recent videos, so perhaps he's already straightened this out.

Yes as I stated above, the OP's video was from a couple years ago, other videos have posted where he has a high release.

Here is a video from about a year ago that clearly his release point:
