Drew Singleton to Michigan. I think that's 3 out of the last 4 years that Michigan took NJ's #1 player. The good news is that this year they stayed mostly in state and they swept the top 6 guys from the state of Michigan (guess MSU missed out this year after their terrible season).

So can someone remind me why we didn't just hire Chris Partridge ourselves... seems like we just lost out on 3 top recruits because of that.

Patridge was soooo sleezy that even Fudd wouldn't hire him.

I don't know who is worse, trolls like "rivals" or ignorant RU fans like woz, who would rather have Fudd and Patridge than Ash and Kill.
What about morons who make huge jumps and assumptions?... "I think partridge would have been a good hire" oh well that must mean he loves Flood and hates ash and kill!!!!!!!!

Michigan hired a HS coach to coach their LBs to get an in on 2 recruits from PC. Now that their pipeline is basically dry...now what?

So if Temple hired Partridge, they all would have gone there?

So I have this bridge you might be interested in...
No, Michigan take players we want who turn into stars, Temple take players we don't want who turn in to stars. One thing for sure we have to get better in both areas, that is my XMAS wish.

Partridge's major connection is with Paramus Catholic. The other parochial schools absolutely hated the guy. He is getting no favors from any of them.

This is the last year of the partridge in a pear tree.

Ash owns NJ in 2018.

Is that why Kareem Walker and Michael Dwumfour, both from De Paul Catholic, signed with Michigan last year?
Wow. No, it means that having him on staff at Rutgers would only potentially have created an enhanced relationship with PC. It would have had little to no effect, or even a negative effect, in attracting the other parochial school players to Rutgers.

EDIT: This is regarding posters who suggested Partridge should be hired at Rutgers thinking he is a great NJ resource when that is not how he is viewed by most people in NJ. By the way, I am a Paramus Catholic alum.

One thing is or sure he couldn't have hurt our recruiting.

Maybe not. But remember when the summer camp wars were going on? PC sided with Harbaugh, and a lot of the other schools jumped at Ash's camp with Urban Meyer. Kids will always be kids and choose where they want based upon a lot of reasons. My point is that there are still a lot of negative feelings by some NJ coaches towards Partridge.

Ash owns NJ in 2017 ... 11 of the top 25 recruits so far according to 247 - more than Flood had in his whole 4 years and more than Michigan, OSU, and PSU have in NJ COMBINED ....... people keep ignoring this, that's fine but I'll see you in 2-3 years and we can all talk again..

Ban yourself. If you don't think losing our top player in-state is relevant, then don't read. I'm tired of RU fans thinking putting their head in the sand any time they hear bad news. Deal with it and get better.

Genius. Do you think Michigan just started recruiting well when they hire partridge? Or do you think Michigan might have been good at college football for some time? Just wondering if you really think partridge is why Michigan recruits well.

LOL. No we didn't. I don't think you understand how this stuff works.

Recruiting at Michigan and OSU is completely different than it is at most schools. Those guys were just waiting for a offer from their dream school so they could commit. The only way we would have a chance with players like that is if their dream school doesn't offer them. The best players that we and most other school get are the ones that legit didn't have a dream school or their dream school never offered.

In this case of Drew Singleton he committed a while back. They just made it public now as part of a goofy christmas gimmick that JH came up with.Chris Partridge or not Chris Partridge nothing world have stop him from committing to Michigan, unless Michigan never offered.

same article:

And this is not over. Michigan is already hot on the trail of four of New Jersey’s top football players, including Don Bosco lineman Tyler Friday, St. Peter’s Prep defensive back Shayne Simon and Irvington quarterback/athlete Jasiah Provillon. Will they all go to Michigan? At this point, anything is possible.

Meanwhile Rutgers and coach Chris Ash have yet to make a deep impact in this neighborhood. Getting St. Peter’s Prep quarterback Johnathan Lewis was a coup, but the school needs to be more effective getting kids to stay in New Jersey. Michigan and Boston College each have coaches on staff with North Jersey connections that are paying off. Syracuse is rising as well.

Rutgers just hired Jerry Kill as offensive coordinator. The former Minnesota coach has been successful and has a Big Ten background, but his hiring didn’t create much of a ripple here. To me, Bergen Catholic head football coach Nunzio Campanile is an ideal choice to join the Rutgers staff in some capacity. He would bring a good offensive mind and every North Jersey contact in his phone.

Get bad news? We knew that Singleton wasn't coming here months ago.

Here's some bad news for you, Michigan boy - Ihmir Mitchell is now with Rutgers, along with commits of 11 out of the top 25 NJ recruits, including the top one, Micah Clark.

rivals1982 - isn't it time for your Harbaugh sleepover?

The article says a lot. I give Ash credit for maintaining the class. He's done a good job of selling his vision. I still think the class is top heavy. Other than Melton, Clark and Fogg the class is fairly mediocre. You can only hope those 3 perform to their rankings.

How's that bad news for Michigan? He got kicked off the team. If Harbaugh thought Ahmir was worth the trouble, he would be practicing for the Orange bowl right now

Not so, he was suspended and then chose to transfer.

"Practicing for the Orange Bowl?" That in itself is sinful, Michigan was the most talented B1G team, and would have had the best chance of any of defeating Alabama IMO. Nice choke job, JH.

Agree........and Ash will do better in 2018 in NJ than in 2017.
Love what Ash is doing in 2017 in NJ.

Because the last guy was busy trying to keep Barnwell eligible/out of prison.

Also, who signs up for this board in 2016 and uses THAT as their avatar?
