No they don't. They want to sabotage us since they are owned by Syracuse alumnus.

Please - you are assigning mystical alumni-loyalty superpowers to that school up near Lake Ontario

"They" - that school's alumni - have their favorites - but money - or the pursuit of money - trumps all of that -
and their (declining) business is what they care about most
- they are inclined to run with what they think gets readers / clicks / sell ads ... and they chase trends - beat the horse til dead X3 and move on - if news on RU is bad - they run more and more of the story (their perspective is that "bad news sells") - slice it six different repetitive ways - recycle sections of articles until the story runs out of gas
.... If the story line about RU is positive - up beat - they do the same - but not with the same vigor - or endurance ... but not so much because they have a deep seated hate for RU (which they may) - but because they are inclined to think that a positive story rarely has "legs" like a negative story - they believe (and they may be right) human nature leans toward reveling in the misfortune and mess of others more that admiring the great positive events of others.

If RU is going great & on a win streak - they will be on the band wagon - for as long as they think it sells ads .... and they will still be looking for the next negative series of stories that they think will sell even more ads for an even longer period of time

Guy gets hired as CEO. Guys has 48 things to do on his list of priorities. Guy gets pushed to hire significant division head by board to oversee major division while he concentrates on things much higher on the priority list. Guy finishes those things with rave reviews. Guy looks at division head he was pushed to hire and sees it was a disaster. Guy realizes that he botched the hire and must take action. Guy exercises right as CEO to clean house in sub-par division. Guy hires great division head and finds money for great department heads under that division head. Guy sounds to me like a great leader who can learn from his mistakes. I keep the guy around even though the one division performed sub par for the beginning of his tenure.

Apparently you can't put 2 and 2 together either. I honestly hope Trump forces reform in the media. Too much ability to write whatever you want in the media without being held accountable. A big fat class action lawsuit from RU would shut down the SL for good.

Can we please not bring up trump and politics in this thread? I like to read about Rutgers sports without having my blood pressure rise. This board should be apolitical, Rutgers fans come from all walks/political opinions.

This is 100% spot in, but it is also valid reason to hate the slimy media and their agendas. Especially the Star Ledger. May it wither and die and any employee who promoted the publication of sensational stories over fact based stories never find employment in the media again. This includes all of the sports staff who covers RU.

stop buying in the twitter circle jerk for once

Huh? What's this have to do with twitter? And a circle jerk on twitter? Not sure what that means. Can we speak like adults for once?

I gave you my reasons i think athletics would be better off without him. You disagree, fine. I've been pretty respectful..not like I've been an A-hole.

Think its silly to ignore someone if you don't agree with them

because your history on the board is to go into a panic over what nj.com and other social media says about Rutgers

There are things I dislike about Barchi, I am not one of his biggest fans and question how much he is willing to go for sports here. However its pretty stupid to say he should resign over this..because one its not new news, all this was swirling around last year and two he rectified the situation by putting Hobbs in charge and that has made a major change and success across the board

Fair enough. Again, as I've been saying....you blame the reputation that Rutgers athletics has nationally on the media. I blame it on the adminstration's lack of caring about athletics for an extended period of time. And yes, I acknowledge Barchi's realized his mistake and has been much better since then...but I think it's done enough damage. Would be happier with a new President in charge.

And i know its not new news. This isn't a "new" feeling I've had, either. I've been saying we should get rid of him when the Rice debacle happened, when all of Hermann's "scandals" were in the news..and he didn't do much. I didn't all of the sudden feel this way. Just thought it was a good time reiterate my point....which obviously isn't a popular viewpoint here. I get it.

who really 'put Hobbs in charge' Christie..or Barchi?

I think Greg Brown pushed the point to Barchi that he had to be more involved with athletics given the high profile, but he put Hobbs in charge. If you remember, the original plan was for Hobbs to be an interim AD.

Some of these allegations go back to 2011 when Schiano and Pernetti were in charge.

I don't think that there is much question that RU athletics would have done better with a different president, but the point that many are making, is that you don't judge a university president on how he handles athletics. You judge him on how he managed the entire university.

I get that. But his mishandling of athletics has made our athletics program an embarrassment the last few years. And, rightfully or wrongfully, that effects the reputation of the university.

We cannot just stop at blaming Barchi. We also need to blame the people who hired Barchi as we as the people who appointed those people.
