Serious question here. Is there a reason RU BBall articles don't show up on my main NJ.com page and I have to search for the articles?

I'd assume Rutgers Bball, with the recent struggles they've had over the years, doesn't kill it on NJ.com. Thus, no need to put articles on main page if interest isn't there.
In a state known for eating its own, it's the local paper that feeds off of failures and doubt. I used to frequent them in years past but their writing and click bait format is unbearable so I've moved on.

Mike's unwavering support to a hated enemy of RU is bothersome, that said he is a valued contributor to the board despite that and offers strong insight.
Well, per Manahan's response to my email after the Stony Brook game, they don't actually report the news, they only publish what they think will generate traffic. To quote him, "we’d like to cover all RU hoops games, but that’s not our business model anymore."
So, if you want to see RU Hoops news - you apparently fall outside the target audience for NJ.com and the Star Ledger.

So lame on the part of star ledger, NJ.com...I thought Journalism school teaches you to report the news. They are worrying about "traffic" and yet if they reported something newsworthy like our state basketball team being 10-1 with a new head coach maybe the public would become more aware thus generating "traffic" going forward. Their short term thinking is so lame.

The S-L business model is to focus on Legal Advertising, especially foreclosure notices in Essex and Union counties. The writing is dry, but factual.
EVERYTHING is click-related these days. Depressing as hell for those of us that have spent our lives in the business, but it's the way it is. There are other things to rip the Star Ledger for, but this is a bigger trend in "journalism" and thus not something I will call them out on. We have to acknowledge that the media is reactive and not there to drive interest in something, but to reflect interest in something.
Christie in an effort to get back at the Ledger has legislation introduced that would make legal posting optional. that would kill a big revenue source for print media--revenge

I have the Rutgers sports page as a shortcut, and the bball articles are in that feed.
I do the same. I usually go to nj.com/rutgers and basketball and football articles both show up.
I have no opinion on what its tied to, but legal advertising should go away. Its a total anachornism in the internet age. No one, I mean no one, is getting legal notice from publishing requirements. Its a huge waste of money. All of that could easily be listed on a state database for anyone wanting to search for it. That would actually better serve the public, and get rid of this ridiculous handout to media companies.
