Sima is a center with length. I know in the summer I saw him walking on campus with Doorson, Thiam, and Sa.

Well see what happens. That would be a great get, and I think Young could transform him into a big time player.

Rebounder and Shot Block and looks like he can score. ....lots of length. Does not sound like a project with these stats.

2015-2016 Started 18 of 25 appearances, playing 23.4 minutes per game … led the team with 5.7 rebounds per contest to go with a 7.3 scoring average … finished second in the BIG EAST with 60 blocks, the ninth-most for a single season in program history … posted a team-best 48.7 field goal percentage, the 15th highest shooting mark in the BIG EAST.

Rated No. 14 in the Class of 2015 for his position by CBS 247 Sports …

Sima tries to block everything. While he gets to shots and changes others he is rarely in very good rebounding position. St. Johns has two jumping jacks in the middle who both do the same thing. A bit painful to watch. Sima is an athlete with potential if coached up.

What would be the cost of him transferring?

He'd be eligible for conference play next year and then 1 full year. He'd also practice with us immediately.

He'd take a scholarship out of our pocket for 2 years. Sounds like he only plays the 5 so he would be in direct competition with Sa and Doorson and hopefully Diallo. If all things equal a shot blocker can shave 4+% points off of FG%

I'd need to know more about the player and the person.

Doorson still needs time to be considered a reliable threat. Obvious.

I think Sa can switch it up at PF and Center.

Well see.

he is a sophomore so we'd get 2.5 years. Might need a year off to get the Jordan like Mullin or Mullen non compete stench off.

In a small sample yes...what happened to his shot blocking and rebounding? Big drop off from FR to SO. Is he upset about losing minutes? By looking only at numbers one would say it could be justified.

Of course there are variables, like you said. I just know for a fact he is close with a lot of Rutgers players, so that is why I posted. Sa is a senior next year, along with Freeman. I think our coaches could change that around. Like you said though, not if he is an all about me player. That would take a lot.

Sima is a good kid, he REALLY wanted to go to Maryland but when Diamond Stone committed he chose St. John's. Under Armour may play a role IF he decides to stay in college and not return to Europe to play professionally.

With kids from another country you can never rule out an agent getting in their ear and telling them how much money they'll make if they leave college now and play overseas.

I too was wondering what happened with the Johnnies big men? Sima was pretty good last year when I was at the RU-Johnny game in Queens. Yakwe (spelling ?) joined the team later last year and did quite well too. Sima is long and a good shot blocker. I think he would help us a lot. I think Young could help him tremendously. If he did join us in January he would be eligible next year at the end of the first semester. That would give us another center who I think could also score.

As much as I am not sure about taking transfers, this is a no-brainer....Defensive-first big man, with scoring potential to share time with other erasers up-front like Sa and eventually Shaq Doorson?? Yep....!!

Wish we were in line for a solid guard transfer. Every one is worried about replacing Gettys.. I'm way more concerned with replacing Johnson and Sanders after next season.

Baker and Thiam are our backcourt of the future.

It's much easier to find HM guards than it is to find HM bigs.

Did anyone watch the St Johns game last night. At one point they had a camera a mic in the huddle and it was painful to to watch. CM just sat there and about every ten seconds would say "let's go guys" and they were winning big. I think he was a great player who cannot coach.

I like Geo.. But is he CS or NJ level guard? He looks like a solid rotation guard - reminds of Mike Poole. Nigel and Corey are quick, athletic, and good ball handlers. As of now, we no one to replace them. Atleast we have Doorson and Diallo for 2 more years

We have two ships for next year. One is committed to geo baker so there is one left. Whether this young man is in the mix may be a function of who else Coach P is recruiting and who he thinks he has a shot at landing. I saw an earlier post about a 5 star that is visiting RU and, coincidently, St. Johns. Pike may not want to use the only ship he has left. I don't know anything of course, just thinking out loud. (addendum. My bad, the 5 star is in the class of 2018). But the fact remains that we don't know if Pike has another recruit in mind.

the verdict is out on Doorson and moreso Diallo thus far, adding Sima could be a nice way to replace Gettys next year

Well, one thing we know for sure is that since Sima apparently wants to transfer by the spring semester we will know about this pretty soon (by recruiting standards anyway)

That 5 star is 2018.
