We kicked their asses the final ten minutes of the half. As long as Pikiell makes good adjustments when needed and we start hitting a couple of shots, we can win this game.

34-28 Miami at half time.Rutgers continues bad habit of allowing last second basket before half time.Still in the game without one 3 pointer.

I don't believe we have hit an outside shot the entire game thus far. We don't have a chance unless we start hitting some outside shots.

I know we're only down by 6, but we can barely get a clean shot off on offense. We're in this game because of UM's sloppiness. Don't feel good about our chances here.

In all fairness, this time there should've been a charge on that last play and the basket should not have counted. That was good defense.

Looked like Laurent held his ground and could have been called a charge. It's a shame, but we're in this thing!

This isn't calling you out because you're not the only one to post about Miami's sloppy play. But i think we gotta give some credit to Rutgers. A lot of their turnovers were forced by great defensive positioning and hustle. Sure they could be a little cleaner but they are clearly having a little trouble with the intensity our defense brings

Miami is the better team to me clearly. However if RU can hang around by doing all the scrappy work they have a shot to steal this at the end. Doing a great job at not turning it over so going to have to keep that up

Agreed. Acquitted ourselves well so far.
Absolutely amazing. We have not hit 1 outside shot all game and are still in it. We have missed 4 layups and been blocked at the rim 3 times . No offensive rebounds in first 10 minutes then Sa gave us a huge lift and now we are going to the glass. Nice job by Pikiell switching between man to zone with half court trap keeping Miami off balance. We just have to make a few shots and this game goes to the wire. Miami is definitely beatable

They have better athletes but not sure if they are the better team at all!

Gotta think we're in Miami's heads a little, too. They were pulling away before we went in that run. In their house. We may yet lose but I think we're going to give them a helluva fight!

If Rutgers only had a Douby type player, they would be leading at half time.Wishful thinking I know but the need for that type player is a must for this program to win these games against tough competition.

solid opponent on the road. We're in it. Even if we win 1 out of 3 against this type of opponent in big 10 play it will be huge progress over last year.

So I was stuck in traffic from airport, did CJG get two quick fouls?
He did, but he was also getting torched underneath. This is a run-and-gun game, and his lack of speed is being exposed (he is corn-fed 7-foot midwestern boy, after all). Sa was more effective even though he's giving up 4 inches. Doors had some good moments, too. Gettys will get back in, but if this is an uptempo game, Gettys will be the sub for Sa and Doorson.

Sa and Doorson showed us something. Other guys need to feed off that. Would like to see Thiam knock down 3 treys in a row to start the second half. Ok, I'll settle for 2 treys.

If we had Myles Mack we would be leading

Need to hit perimeter shots .... this will help Freemanwith some space and open up the paint a little more
Yep. The lane has been clogged all game (for both teams), and if we can soften things up with a couple of threes, we will do much better underneath. The problem with this is, the same thing holds true for Miami.

Halftime observations

1.) we started getting over the picks on the perimeter and then Miami stopped scoring. If we can continue to do this we are gojng to be right in it

2.) Freeman just needs to be a little more patient...he is getting to the rim and just needs to finish

3.) we are getting pretty good action off the ball sxreen grtting to the hole. Miami will likely drop down and the wing jumpers may start to be right there....so have a feeling that ability to knock some three when open will make it or break it

4.) zone switch was outstanding timing and got Miami out of rythem

5.) Miami had some fouls so got to keep taking the ball to the hole

6.) we need to continue to do a solid job of protecting the ball.

7.) we got a decent amount of follows off the ball to the rim off ball screen action. As stated above....expect them to drop a defender to rotate to got to make extra pass to set up wide open 3 balls and hit the open ones

Got RU @ +14 1/2. Like their hustle & D so far this year so it was an easy choice at the book.

Pike has lots to get the team charged up about at halftime. My money's on Mike to light the fire in the second half.

Most of the turnovers caused by our defense ! We are deeper than them and Mike nor Issa has good off yet and if they do , we win because we're the better team! Deeper and better!!
