Corey Sanders taking some very questionable shots. I know this game is over but don't want him to build bad habits going forward. Someone's got to tell him
He's taken five shots. He's 2 for 5. Why do people always look for the most negative thing? No mention of the fact he has 8 assists. He's doing a better job of distributing the ball.

Pretty good. Biggest negative imo is we don't defend well at the rim. And we have the right coach to work on that.

Surprised that Doorson is not part of the rotation..
Hobbs was not happy with him. He had his burn in the 2nd half then got yanked after playing soft. Hobbs used his bench time after that yank as a teaching moment.

not after seeing him on the floor with the rest I am not. He may have lost a ton of weight but he seems really out of condition and way behind the other big guys in terms of movement.

The two bigs coach brought in are already way ahead of what we had...

probably just needs to shake off some rust.. Plus, you need to Add in the nervous factor. It was his first minute of game action in 2 years. What did he play, 1 1/2 minutes ? Tough to draw anything from that.

some thoughts.....
1. not much can be learned offensively from an individual standpoint because we saw zone every possession
2. freeman looked fresh and athletic
3. despite what the idiots said behind me...i loved how sanders let the game come to him....with zone every possession and the 2 wings ready to pinch on driblle penetration Corey was right being a facilitator and not a scorer.
4. starting lineup was reward based and not one to trot out there. too big to defend most teams we will see
5. outside of the 1st 5 minutes of the 2nd half the D was very good.
6. thought we actually looked good playing the 2-3 zone in the 2nd half of the 2nd half
7. pikiell appears to be in to it and very positive..only 1 game
8. thought out substiution patterns..take a look at minutes..freeman and sanders with 30 and 8 players with 20

we will learn more after drexel game

FIG.....do you think Sa should get some PF minutes with Gettys....not sure I saw that tonight but I was watching and working at the same time.

Also....I think you had some concerns about Thiam as a perimeter 2 defender, but, his lateral quickness looked very good....even with it being Malloy. After seeing Thiam, I'm convinced he is a 2. Against a zone all game he did not have the opportunity to drive to the basket, but, I'm sure he can do it.

Omoruyi looked very good in limited minutes. He seems to be unselfish, with good awareness & hoops IQ. 6pts, 5 boards & 4 assists in 15 minutes. Maybe he can be our poor man's Draymond Green...whom he resembles somewhat.

Thiam has a quick release...sets his feet before the pass arrives. Smooth stroke.

id like to see more but i dont think thiam is an option at the 2 defensively in man defense. i dont think we want sa and gettys on floor at same time because of offense.

again i need more of a sample size...obviously pikiell has seen a lot and thiam got the start.

Looks like a 10 player rotation...with Bullock and Diallo as the last two. Diallo would get minutes if there is foul trouble on the frontcourt. It may be difficult to get Bullock minutes.

and why did he only play 1.5 mins? He was lumbering out there. BUT hey, I hope he progresses fast. We could use him.

What I liked.
1. Interior passing resulting in dunks/layups
2.Williams 3 point shooting
3.Defensive intensity for most of the game
4 Coaching involved at time outs an during game
5.Pikiell energy during the game
6.Bench got significant playing time and contributed points
7.Dunks
8. Freeman healthy and contributing with scoring and rebounding
9.Student attendance
10.Enhanced lighting in the RAC

Good point on the interior passing.....they worked over the zone pretty good with quick passes. No one held the ball.......unnecessarily. I only noticed a few sloppy passes on the outside.
