Sad to say but I don't blame any jersey kids for decommitting. I am losing the vision as a fan so I can imagine what some of them are thinking especially those with better offers. I was a huge fan of the Ash hire but seeing team quit before the game is over consistently is on the coaching staff. There is no fight in this team and this team continues to be embarassed. This one really hurts because Illinois sucks and we cant even beat them at home!!! Now we will be in an endless catch 22 because players will decommit and we will have to rely on lesser skilled talent that will put in right back in the same situation we are in now.
loser mentality

Very sad u r losing the vision 7 games into a complete rebuild..

All indications are the recruits realize this and the play on field this season is pretty meaningless. But let's hope they have faith.

Our WRs suck. No effort. On those deep routes, WRs aren't even trying to go all out on their routes.

Laviano over Gio and Goodwin over Hicks are just dumb coaching decisions. No way around that.
Unless you are at the practices you have no way of making such a bold statement, maybe Gio has a limited playbook he is comfortable with, maybe Hicks fumbles a lot or struggles in las protection in practice...you just don't know...

Nice reframing. No problem w coaching though Just less than perfect you feel sure

Sanan and meyer get delay of game coming on the field and have 4 plus turnovers

First, I wouldn't ever compare a 1st year head coach to Saban and Meyer. This is just foolish. Of course our coaches aren't at that level, yet.

Second, those coaches are working with much more talent. So lot less turnovers.

Third. my "not on coaches" debate this thread was over turnovers. The delay of game penalty is on coaches, no doubt. But first year coaches going to have growing pains. They won't be perfect, and never said they would be..despite u thinking that.

Go RU!

TRAP AND COMPANY STAYED AND SUPPORTED THE TEAM TILL THE END OF THE GAME. I'm very disappointed with our fans for leaving this game by the middle of the third-quarter. Terrible just terrible.

Gio needs 1st team reps. I'm looking forward to that hopefully being true and looking forward to next week's game to see what he can do after practicing with the 1s.

loser mentality
It's not a loser mentality its being realistic. I have never bashed this team ever but I can see that they are playing uninspired and with no fight. For you or anyone to believe that our commits are not re-thinking their decision you are a fool. We have all heard the "I'm 100% committed" crap before. I don't put too much stock into words at this point but we can't even play inspired ball against freakin Illinois. Is it so much to ask to see an effort?

I haven't said it's totally lost but this is becoming embarassing at this point. All I can ask for and I'm sure the same for our commits is effort. I know this year would be difficult but this is downright ugly and for this game IMO inexcusable.

My bold prediction...... next week we leave Minny with a win if we have a new starting QB.

Below average coaching. Horrible talent. Why is this so hard to understand. Both will get better. Ash stays but we need better coordinators all around.
By all accounts, most on this board LOVED these young fresh relatable assistant coaches with minimal experience...I don't know where all those posters are now...or they've changed their mind after 7 games

Offensive line still sucks and we run our backs twice into a brick wall for 3rd and long.

It's going to be worse next week

Becoming embarrassing? We've been an embarrassing program a few years now.

It sucks we lost..and im not happy. But I still have faith. That's why the recruits are coming..they have faith in the program.

Why should you be embarrassed? First year, rookie coach and OC, team coming off a series of losses including a close loss, a blowout, and a mega-blowout. They've shown some potential today, but were undone by some missteps. Two years from now, mid-season, we're winning 6 or seven games. Until then, just cheer them on. And rest easy.

i don't disagree with you and i may be wrong on this but Patton and Archidiacano seem to catch much better when Gio throws. Gio definitely throws with far more zip. i think our WRs have more confidence in Gio.

Illinois DL was a strength. Best position group on the field for them. Having GR back there instead of CL will make a huge difference since his pocket presence is much better. Those runs he had would have been sacks.

I haven't lost total faith, but you really don't see why people are embarrassed? I believe ru was outscored 150-0 at one point? I had patient in regards to making a bowl game, but I certainly expected a little more than national laughing stock.

it is also Ash's job to know who plays better in real games.
one characteristics of Schiano that i hated is that he seems to only let kids that are good in practice play. while i understand this from a disciplining perspective, it goes directly against 'player who gives us best chance to win' philosophy.

not me, I questioned it from the get go. that said, I want him to succeed but knew early on he is not the guy. His gameday is worse than Gregs

I'm not embarassed by the losses but by how we are losing. I don't care what anyone says but Illinois was totally winnable and we just can't win at home. This team looks so lost and that is on the coaching staff too. I am not giving up on Ash just yet (that would be foolish) but I would love to see a game where we don't give up, go into a hole early, special teams look good, etc.

I understand, but Minny is a much better team, our playcalling has to improve

He might be the guy...but I think he would have been better off hiring at least some experienced coordinators...if he was going to hire lesser experienced younger position coaches like Blazek and Henry...it's crazy a first time head coach hires a coordinator with maybe two years of FBS assistant coaching experience.

No HC has given him a chance... There is a very good reason for that.

Yeah. He was a freshman for the first one and the other 2 are incompetent. Sorry I was trying hard not to say that about Ash but he just lost me after today.

EDIT: He's young and maybe he'll improve with experience but right now that's my opinion.

If Gio does not start next week, our coaches need their heads examined. Would even bring Rettig in 1st off the bench. This team is now in serious need of a spark.

At this point Oden has already has his red shirt burned, no reason not to give him quality reps at this point and maybe run a true RPO or triple option with your other two best play makers Martin and...hicks or Harris?

Well, this team has seemingly quit and packed it in well before games were over so according to you they have a loser mentality as well. There is no fight in them even when we are at home. Some of us still can bleed scarlet while criticizing what we see as being unacceptable--especially losing to 1-4 Illinois today. They aren't a top team and we are very comparable programs right now so what is the excuse today? I'm tired of excuses and just want to see good effort (a win would be better) and if that makes me have a loser mentality then so be it.

nah, i see positives on defense and I do not think they quit at all. In fact, if that pick 6 had not killed the mo, they might have made this close.
