It's only 9am and I've been playing defense against those looking to rub Saturday in my face or ask what happened...literally...since I got out of my car at the office this morning. Commentary has ranged from "what the hell happened?" to "you really don't belong in that conference." I'm still waiting for the biggest pot-stirrer of them all (Syracuse fan) to stop by my desk...

How is everyone else doing so far?

Yes, typically non-sense like Rutgers should have never been invited to the Big Ten, Rutgers does belong in the Big Ten, Rutgers couldn't beat (insert local high school here).

Some people just love to kick people while they are down to make themselves feel better.

I work from home so I get to avoid a lot of this nonsense.....but truth is nothing you can do but swallow the crap this morning being dished out after a 78-0 loss.....stick in there, our time is coming - I think.

I live in SEC country, so no other conference gets mentioned. Unless it to say the whole conference doesn't play to level of SEC. It would be spun as,negative for OSU playing easy schedule see Rutgers blowout etc...

My retort to you don't belong in B1G:
"We absolutely belong and the B1G was smart to ask Rutgers to join. Football was 8-5 in our first year when we had a more talented team. People that follow college football know that new coaching staff needs some time to recruit more talent, they have begun to do that, and it will be exciting to watch this team get better. There will be some nice Rutgers B1G wins right here in NJ. "

Did the other fans actually go to these schools or are they just (e.g. Notre Dame) fans because they like the color green?

If the Big Ten was only Ohio State and Michigan, then yes we don't belong. But it is also Illinois, Purdue, Minnesota, etc. should they all be kicked out?

Also, a good note is that both Rutgers and Notre Dame are 2-4 right now, but Rutgers' opponents we lost to have a combined record of 21-2, and ND's losses were to teams that are combined 11-10.

Explain that 2 years ago Rutgers was 8-5 in first year in Big Ten. They also beat Michigan.

They are doing poorly because of the lack of talent since Schiano left. Not because they are in Big Ten. Keep Simple.

If furthermore is needed:
Plenty of top players in NJ came to Rutgers during that period. See Knights in NFL.

This Michigan O does not score 78 vs. 2012 Defense let alone 28.

Again Keep it simple. Talent question. It will and can be fixed.

Oklahoma beat Texas A&M 77-0 in 2003. So it not unprecedented is P5 conference play. Washington put 70 on Washington. Tell an L is an L counts the same.

I don't hear anyone saying they should kick Purdue out of the conference and they haven't done sh*t since Drew Brees was there. Sure they had their glory years years ago. We've had a better record than them for years now. Go crap on them!!! Kick those losers out!

Not a word from anyone who is not a Rutgers fan/alum. First guy I saw at my office, yesterday, literally put his Penn State shirt on (his son works for the team), and said to me "well, at least the rain stopped early for you guys," and I started cracking up.

Stupid people will be stupid. Most people understand this is a rebuild under a new coach with new systems. Most people understand what that moron of a previous HC did to this program. Luckily I haven't run into those who aren't "most people" thus far LOL!

actually same here. I did the walk of shame Sunday morning twice at both my kids soccer games and no one ribbed me at all. It was more like wow you still wore that hat this morning but in a kidding way and actually had a few people sincerely ask what was deal and gave me the opportunity to explain. Also the texts stopped early to.

I almost think it was so bad that it may open more eyes to the issues of recruiting and some of ill will toward State U by some. The average person can understand why kids go to Ohio State and Michigan but not why anyone would openly want Rutgers to fail.

I just love telling the story of guess who Harbaugh hired as his recruiting coordinator day one. it puts a little perspective as to what you are dealing with

I would just say we played an Iowa team that was in the Rose Bowl last year and game was 7-7 in 4th quarter. Iowa and Minnesota are teams right now we should be able to hang in against. And i realize Iowa is down this year.

Good point. At least we can be terrible and still lay claim to the NY tv market. Take that Purdue :chairshot:

Wore my RU sweatshirt today. Woman at our bagel shop said my daughter is a junior there, loves it. No mention of the game.
At Lowe's in line to pay, the woman behind me said she was also at the game. We chatted about it. However, being she is part of the Audi Club, I'm sure she still had a good evening without getting wet. She also agreed with me on some of the other things we'd like to see changed.
Wasn't a bad day after all.

I work from home three days a week now so no issue. Funny thing is, when I was going into the office people would avoid me like the plague after a bad game. They'd duck into another person's office and pretend to be engaged in an important conversation or pick up the phone and act like there was someone on the line. Pretty funny to think back on that.

I work with people who are mostly Jets fans. They know better than to say anything negative about my football team!

Can we PLEASE stop saying other weak teams in the Big Ten should be kicked out? They were either always in or in for decades. It's not the same as inviting a team like Rutgers, with little history of big-time success, a few years ago.

Just stop it.

Prior to the realignment/expansion era - the BigTen was commonly referred to as Big Two little eight - as OSU and Michigan dominated the conference.
