Indiana went bowling last year, but finished under .500, so i would say they are out. UNC in the bowl is the same situation, so either Maryland to end the 2014 season, or Navy who finished at 8-5 in 2014?
UM finished at 5-7, they had a top D when we played them, but anyone under .500 on the season is out in my opinion.

It's a tough call, do you go based on how good they were that day/week, or do you go by end of the season record?
I think good team is meant not a mediocre 6-6/7-5 school that was sub 500 in conference
I guess Maryland to end the season in 2014 was the best but its not like anyone cared. RU hasnt had a win that made a national ripple since beating USF in 2008

2016: Nope.
2015: Indiana? Nope.
2014: Maryland or Navy. Viva Nova?
2013: Nope.
2012: Syracuse and Cincy. Biggest victory were the B1G rumors right after the Cincy game, and the subsequent invite (Thank you GS and BM!)

Didn't they lose to Louisiana Monroe the week before (or some other awful team)? I liked winning against an SEC team on the road, but we had a defense with 3 DBs who would be drafted and somehow gave up almost 300 yards to a WR in that game, I believe.
I would say Indiana. They were pretty good. Michigan was terrible the one year we beat them... I mean they pretty much lost to everyone and they didn't have a QB during our game because they couldn't play Shane cuz of the concussion and Devin Gardner was injured so they basically hobbled together whatever junk they could put together. Somehow we almost lost that game, but luckily the refs were on our side and called that pass incomplete to set us up for the field goal block! Woohoo! Memories!
I don't know why some here insist on setting the goalposts impossibly high. IMO, conference games are always "quality" wins, especially for an ever-struggling program like ours. There are no prescheduled wins in the B1G for us, nor were there in the Big East. We're not, nor were we ever, at that level, despite delusions spun here. So why the obsession with only beating winning teams? If there are "no moral victories" as some of these same posters would repeat over and over, why are there "bad wins"?
I watch a lot of PAC12 football and that conference highlights no easy conference games and "any given Saturday" better than most, imo. So often watch a team have a huge performance one week, then unexpected loss the next. I'd call any win in that conference a good win, and I'd say the same for the B1G, unless you're an OSU or Mich.

Not really. We only won that game because we knocked out russell wilson. If we hadn't we would have likely lost that game.

We only won 2006 Louisville because Ito made the field goal. I think you have to take games as a whole. You either win or lose.
If you want to use the approach many here employ when judging James Franklin, I think the answer is a W against a team that won at least eight regular season games and is currently in a P5 conference.
Following up ... I went back and looked, and using the SN.com James Franklin index of quality wins, it appears RU hasn't had one since beating it defeated Pitt on Oct. 25, 2008.
And before anyone asks, if we're not going to include this weekend's win against Minnesota, which will likely fulfill the requirements at the end of the season, Penn State's last quality win, according to the SNJF index, was against Wisconsin on Nov. 30, 2013.
I'm confident that no one was talking about Penn State in this Rutgers thread on the Rutgers board.

Doesn't matter. Beating any SEC team not named Vanderbilt or Kentucky means something. Still.. in terms of the OP, you are right.. doesn't count. But we did do it under Flood conditions.
IMO, two different things. Perception wise? Yeah, those are quality wins. Beating a team that was actually good? That is a much different story.

Outside of a few top programs there is so much competition in college football. I would argue any win against s P5 team is a solid win.

In the self-loathing world of Rutgers fans no win can be a quality win due to the simple fact that the opponent lost to Rutgers.
Yeah, god forbid anyone actually enjoys a win without finding a reason to cut down the coach/program/other programs/conference/cfb.
