He can't do anything with ****** talent.
We have crappy QBs and crappy WRs. No speed at all on offense. Speed is key to run the spread since it relies so heavily on mismatches. OSU's LBs are likely faster than our WRs.
OL is totally overmatched. RBs can't gain any yards. WRs unable to get separation or hold onto the ball. Defense gives up 30 points.

Laviano first half stats... 3 for 11 for 33 yards.
If we don't see another QB getting reps at the start of 2nd half, we should be seriously worried about this coaching.

Nope. You can have Chip Kelly as your OC and the results would not be any different. Our QB is awful and wide receivers can't get separation. Our line is out matched. It is what it is. The talent gap is too great.

You just can't run every down and tell everyone we suck. Run your offense, throw the ball, do anything.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not upset at all with this game. I came into the game expecting poor play from the certain players and it would have an impact on the quality of the game. Sure enough it true, so I didn't get my hopes up for disappointment. On the bright side Turay looks to be rounding into shape. Also, Wharton is having a solid game. I'm shocked Austin is being picked on so much.
I gotta say that if CL comes on the field after half time I'm hitting the off button and calling it a day. I'll watch them lose but I just can't do it watching this offense with him at the helm.
I've been screaming for Rettig for the past 2 years and even I know that it won't make any difference against this defense. Cam Newton would have problems scoring in this situation.
The saddest thing is that our receivers actually did get some separation that half. But Laviano either can't or won't look off his primary targets. And don't get me started on accuracy.
You must be wrong , going into the season coach said the line was our strongest suit.
Actually, the OL played well for a quarter and a half. By then the lack of additional help (QB completing a pass for a first down & receiver holding onto the ball) effected the push the line was getting for the run game.
Do we have a QB that can throw. I know we have this 165 lb skinny high school kid
that doesn't throw, another kid, that was so bad he was turned into a receiver,
now isn't there a kid on the team that throws accurate,
with a very strong arm? I think I remember having one.

I think a lot of posters are missing this point. Laviano is just bad when it comes to throwing the ball more than 7 yards. The receivers get enough separation to catch balls. The real problem with the receivers is holding onto the ball.
You really don't think Martin and 'Harris are playmakers?
Yes the team is over match against Ohio State today but the idea that you don't try anything different at quarterback because you'll still lose is absurd A decision needs to be made that laviano is not the long-term future. Once that decision is made you try anything and everything to see what works. And that includes suffering through fourth down spikes throwaways when you need to keep the clock running,short hops to open receivers etc., because that's what we've seen previously it would mean that the usual suspects he will call for the return of Laviana when something bad happens but something bad has been happening for the last year and a half it's time to let others make the same mistakes if need be to see if someone actually emerges

Sure you have to try. But it's stupid for everyone to just focus on the QB. Why not replace ALL the players on offense? Nobody has played well after the first quarter. It's not just Laviano.
We are completely overmatched everywhere onthe field and playing against one of the best coaches in history. What did people expect? OSU made OK look bad. We're nowhere as good as OK.
Yeah, it sucks that guys like him and Grant don't get enough national attention that they probably deserve because of everything else surrounding them and the poor record of the team.
Well this post missed the mark. Hell it missed the whole side of the barn just like one of Laviano's passes. Not sure what game your watching Mildone. He's had time to throw, they're now bringing the house. Because they know he can't hit the side of a barn like your post.
Laverne clearly can't do it, he's been given many, many, chances by 2 different coaching staffs. I amend my first post and say, anybody but CL, he just can't do it. Regardless of the talent of our opposition.
Time on the field against real opponents is even more limited than practice time. You cannot reproduce it. It should not continue to be wasted on a qb who can't even connect on short passes behind the los. Let another qb learn. It's abundantly clear that laviano is not out future qb.
RU goes into season with no experience at LB. Lose a LB vs Ohio St and put in a freshman. Lucky score isn't worse. RU couldn't beat OSUs 2s and 3s
our QB and scheme play right into Schiano/OSU strength. D brings pressure, which CL is not good with. OSU can stack the box and take away the run, since they know CL will not beat them with his arm.
Something has to change on O.
