Exactly right. It is a talent issue. More specifically even, a talent issue for the scheme we use. A spread offense for guys recruited to a pro set is like changing a half court focused basketball team to a full court pressing game.

You can argue Ash should throw away everything he believes and stayed with the pro set, but that is short term thinking that no coach in his position would do.

Recruit. And get Oden in as fast as possible.
I agree with everything you said. However, Mehringer could do a better job of tailoring the offense to suit the players he currently has.

Watching other teams who employ similar schemes as us is refreshing. Most have a QB who can run, which is a huge piece of this offense.

Janarion Grant being Janarion. And Laviano with the block. Maybe we put another 100lbs. on him and make him an OL.

I am not sure. The QB is the most important position on the field. In a scheme we use, it is even more so. The QB is your primary playmaker, running and passing. We don't have the most important piece which you need to run his scheme. As such, it would require essentially a new scheme. And that isn't happening.

if you truly believe we dont have a talent issue i dont know what to tell you.
no we don't have a talent issue, not to the level of what we are seeing here. Coaching sucks here and if the coaches can't figure out to get the most of the players they have, we will continue to struggle

you guys make me laugh, as if any of you actually have a clue. We are struggling with Howard people, should we start tacking down the ovbvious issues on basic things like tackling and blocking up front????

God we have a clueless fanbase

no, we've seen these schemes work without the required qb before, coach needs to adjust the playbook and calls to the talent on the field.

remind me, aren't we struggling vs Howard?

Fair point. I just meant that maybe some Pro Style concepts could be incorporated into the playbook. Maybe it's not possible, I'm no coach.

Could this team be better coached? Sure. But they are well coached. The biggest indicator of that is penalties. This team doesn't get many so far.
