If everyone gives what they can we will meet the goal. But if those who can give will just sit back and hope that teh rich guys pay for everything, then we are screwed. The rich guys have done their part, now it is our time to wrap this up!

Isn't that premise what Bernie Sander's campaign is all about?
Actually I think his campaign is the opposite. He isn't take money from coorporations or the wealthy. He asks for small donations from a large audience. Thats what RU needs to do now. If every living RU alum gave $100 a year, they would meet the goals quickly.

Does Rutgers have a plan where you can pledge, and give a nominal monthly amount ($20 - $40), which, over a years time is a $240 (or more) pledge. I get mailings from Michigan, where I went to grad school, and their donation form has small monthly payment options, which I think is a good idea, and would work for me.

Yes, I pledge 500 a year and pay in installments each month to credit card.

I just donated.
Thank you! Everyone needs to stop worrying about all RU Alumni and just take up the charge themselves. Pat Hobbs said it very well today. Do what you can monthly or annually and pledge that for 5 years. Set up monthly installments to make it easy. It might be as simple as skipping a few lattes a month or a six pack of beer. Do what you can, do it for 5 year commitment and try to find 10 others to do the same or more.
We are all in this together and all want RU athletics to be successful!
"If it is to be, it's up to me!!" I made my five year commitment a few weeks back and it is much more than what we are talking about here but it truly is up to all of us to do what we can and dig as deep as we can!!!!

...but NOT everyone CAN "give" all the time, or early in the year, or this year...so let's not start to make assumptions, et al, about you can, who can't, and why there isn't more yet...it's going to happen...there IS going to be more...so who cares?

AREYOU-that's bullcrap---you can't tell me someone who is an avid RU fan can't give something/anything--the number of contributors to this fund (923) is way lower than it should be--there's no excuse---especially if it's apathy--and we should care and care a lot

Do you honestly believe that talking the way you do - and have for months - about others donating HELPS the situation? Constantly beating the drum in a negative fashion is the WORST thing you could do right now. I and others have said this to you, several times now, but you just don't want to listen: People will donate IF AND WHEN THEY CAN and you have NO rights to say or tell them otherwise.

Seriously man WTF is wrong with you? :chairshot:

I signed up for monthly payments through my credit card ... $200/year is less than $17/month.

Come on guys.. this thread is about POSITIVE thinking and ENCOURAGEMENT of others to donate. Lets not go negative.

If you can't give, nobody will judge you. But if you've been waiting, complaining, worrying, sad, pissed, whatever...about the direction, state or support level of the program-- NOW IS THE TIME TO DO SOMETHING! ANYTHING!

I'm poor, I'm going thru a divorce....**** sucks right now. But I'm so excited, that after almost 40 years as a non-alumn fan RU might finally be onto something here.... I'm going to give SOMETHING every month. Its not a lot, but I need to Rutgers to win damn it!

Agree under 1000 is pathetic. There is at least 1000 on this board who can and should give.

I've said it in 2 other threads and will say it (again) here. You have several factors at play here:

- people are not used to donating to a specific fund

- people "ear-mark" their donations to other funds or sports, yearly, and did so at the beginning of this year as well

- the majority of people make their donations from April-Dec and not Jan-March due to a # of reasons (tax returns, post-July 1st bonuses, etc, etc)

...so let's see what we can raise, JUST FOR THIS FUND, over the course of a full year before getting too crazy. For Rutgers - RUTGERS - to raise this much in 4 months, when you take into account our history, is very impressive IMHO (no matter "how many" people donated...).
