if rettig isnt playing there is good reason and bad news for us. two coaches cant love laviano that much.

i say we let odin play right away (if he shows potential) cause things are bad with these two.

Laviano is a great practice player, but s@cks in game. For all we know Rettig could be a gamer, but not a solid practice player.

We need athletes at QB, period. Guys that can get to the line of scrimmage, make cuts and take off. Lav & Gio have chances to prove it, but other than that, we'll wait for Mr. Odin.

Lol what did you guys expect??? Seriously, it's the teams first time running a completely new offense in a somewhat real game situation. It takes time. I don't expect the team to look the same on gameday when we play Washington in September as we do today. With that said shut up and watch the game...

Have to agree with this...saying RU needs a black QB to run this offense is asinine....you don't think Johnny manziel could run this offense? Plenty of PAC 12 and Big 12 offenses run a spread with white AND black QBs...RU diesel longs for he days of Jabu Lovelace...
Yep

Each time that clown posts...he Illustrates what dipsh!t he is

The QB's on this roster are horrible. Ready or not, Odin needs to start Day 1.
Can't disagree more, even if he is the most athletic, no way he can pick up
The offense and let the game slow down enough to be an FBS level QB without being here for spring practice...throwing him to the wolves can actually stunt his development in the long run

Agree . Would like to see the highly touted freshman sit and redshirt . But i think he's going to play at some point because he may be the best we got .

Chris might know the offense, has the team behind him, and is a leader, but he doesn't have the arm to make big time throws.

Before he sees the field he needs to bulk up. Going through a big ten slate at 170lbs would be detrimental to the kids health. He will be a stud here but he needs a year to fill in his frame and learn the offense. But I wouldn't mind being proven wrong.

Shall we learn a lesson from he hype that Rettig came in with before anyone saw if he could pick up the offense? How do we know that Oden won't struggle to learn it? Let's not put undue pressure on a kid who is still currently in high school

I'm pretty sure I said we need to give the kid time to grow. I also said I wouldn't mind being wrong and having him be able to make an impact right away. But yes he needs a year to adjust to college football and college life. So I agree with what you are saying.

Hackenberg started freshman year for your ped rape liars.... What makes you think you have a clue about what is right to do in this case?

Prediction both Laviano and Rettig will both play alot this year. If Rettig can figure out how to LEAD he will be the GUY if he can't clipboard duties. Laviano has the LEADER down just does not have all the tools to be great. Combine the 2 guys into one and we have a great QB

Retting has the arm, but needs to improve handoffs and fakes. Do feel more confident with Rettig.

Yeah Rettig needs to improve on a bunch of small things, he was getting ripped apart by the coaches on a couple occasions. Sounds like the biggest hurdle is his leadership qualities.

The play of neither warranted locking down the starting position for the fall. That will, and should, be determined during fall camp.

I know it's only spring, but it's a bit scary that both QBs can look that bad against our sub-par defense. AND if we look that bad come fall, how does that affect commits and potential commits?

I'm looking forward to our posters who critique our other players individually. seeing what we have to look forward to.

Laviano stinks. Basically all of his production was due to Carroo last year. I would rather see what Rettig with more talent has given the chance then the known stinker that is Laviano

IIRC Hack was a very big kid coming out of high school and not playing in a spread O. Big difference IMHO.
